JSW Steel's Q1 FY2027: When Profits Double and Debt Shrinks
Company insights, generated from the most recent coverage.
Value-added and special products hit 61% of Q1 FY27 sales, up 8% YoY, with management guiding to keep the share above 50% — JSW is already past the mix-shift inflection the steel policy merely encourages.
JSW targets 50% captive iron ore by FY31 (from about one-third) and 50% captive coking coal via the Mozambique acquisition plus a 30% effective interest in Illawarra — vertical integration is the explicit cost thesis.
Retail sales fell 9% YoY in Q1 FY27 on higher imports — even a 93%-utilised, mix-led producer like JSW loses volume to cheap inbound steel, so safeguard duties matter to its revenue line.
