JSW Steel reported consolidated crude steel production of 24.65 lakh tonnes for August 2026, registering 3% year-on-year growth compared to 23.82 lakh tonnes in August 2025. According to the latest data disclosed on September 5, 2026, in compliance with SEBI regulations, the company achieved 88% capacity utilisation for its Indian operations during the month. The growth was mainly attributed to domestic operations, which increased by 4% to 23.87 lakh tonnes, while operations in the United States experienced an 11% decline to 0.78 lakh tonnes. The company's consolidated crude steel production figures have been restated to exclude the steel business undertaking of Bhushan Power and Steel Limited, which was transferred to JSW-JFE Steel Limited on a slump-sale basis in March 2026.
The company delivered exceptional financial results for Q1 FY27, with net profit more than doubling to ₹4,651 crore, significantly exceeding analyst estimates. As per CNBC TV18, the company reported revenue from operations of ₹47,364 crore, representing a 10% year-on-year growth from ₹43,147 crore in the corresponding period last year. EBITDA rose 24% to ₹9,383 crore, compared with ₹7,576 crore in Q1 FY26, demonstrating strong operational efficiency. The company's EBITDA margin improved by 230 basis points to 19.81%, reflecting enhanced operational leverage and cost management initiatives. This robust financial performance reflects the company's continued operational strength and strategic focus on its core steel business operations.
The production figures showed mixed performance across segments. Indian Operations contributed 23.87 lakh tonnes, representing a 4% increase from 22.95 lakh tonnes in August 2025, demonstrating strong domestic market demand. However, consolidated production declined 11% to 0.78 lakh tonnes from 0.88 lakh tonnes in the previous year, primarily due to the transfer of the steel business undertaking of Bhushan Power and Steel (BPSL) to JSW-JFE Steel in March 2026. This decline was offset by the strong 4% growth in Indian operations, highlighting the continued strength of JSW Steel's domestic franchise and underscoring the strategic importance of its Indian operations in the company's overall performance.
The market responded positively to JSW Steel's strong performance, with shares closing higher following the results announcement. As per Business Standard, shares closed 1.30% higher at ₹1,325 per unit on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) on Friday, September 4. The stock has gained 13% on a year-to-date basis and 2% over the past month, though it lost nearly 1% in the past week. The stock hit a 52-week high of ₹1,351 per share on August 27, 2026, while touching a year's low of ₹1,040 on September 3, 2025. JSW Steel has a total market capitalisation of ₹3.24 lakh crore as of September 6, 2026, according to data on the NSE, reflecting strong investor confidence in the company's operational performance and growth prospects.
