The New India Assurance Company Limited is India's largest general insurance company, operating across 29 states and 7 union territories in India, and in 26 other countries. Founded in 1919, it offers various insurance products including fire, marine, motor, crop, and health insurance. The company is registered with IRDAI for general insurance business. It became a subsidiary of the General Insurance Corporation of India in 1973 and was later nationalized. In 2017, the company went public through an IPO. As of March 2023, it has a network of 1915 offices in India, including regional offices, corporate offices, divisional offices, branch offices, and micro offices. The company has partnerships with several banks for bancassurance. Its foreign operations contribute significantly to its gross written premium. The New India Assurance Company Limited has subsidiaries in Trinidad & Tobago, Sierra Leone, and Nigeria.
