Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Limited is an Indian company primarily engaged in shipbuilding for the Indian Navy and Coast Guard. Incorporated in 1934 and acquired by the Government of India in 1960, it has three shipbuilding facilities in Kolkata. The company builds various types of vessels including warships, patrol vessels, and commercial ships. It also manufactures portable steel bridges, deck machinery, marine pumps, and assembles marine engines. GRSE has delivered over 750 vessels and has been credited with several firsts in the Indian shipbuilding industry. The company became a public limited company in 2017 and was listed on the stock exchange in 2018, with the government retaining a 74.5% stake. GRSE has expanded its capabilities to include advanced warship construction and has contracts for building survey vessels and anti-submarine warfare craft.
