Gujarat has successfully secured technology partnerships with global companies during Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel's US visit, marking significant progress in the state's technology ecosystem development. According to reports from ANI, Patel held discussions with Micron, Google, Perplexity AI and The Indus Entrepreneurs during his third day of US outreach. These meetings were part of the Gujarat delegation's comprehensive engagement ahead of the Vibrant Gujarat Summit 2027. On the second day of his US visit, Patel and a state delegation held round-table discussions and one-to-one meetings with more than 100 leaders from the semiconductor and technology sectors, besides separate interactions with companies in AI, EdTech, health-tech, gaming and deep-tech. As per an official statement, Patel invited global companies to participate in the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2027 and explore collaboration opportunities through business-to-business (B2B) and business-to-govt (B2G) meetings.
During his meeting with Micron Chairman Sanjay Mehrotra, Patel highlighted the emergence of Sanand and Dholera as key semiconductor hubs in Gujarat. As reported by ANI, Mehrotra thanked the state government for approving 20 acres of land for Micron's Sanand facility within a day and appreciated Gujarat's efforts to support the facility's early commercial production. The discussions focused on attracting technology investments and building collaborations in semiconductor manufacturing. According to an official statement, the delegation also held round-table discussions with leaders from the AI, health-tech, edtech and gaming sectors with focus on opportunities emerging in generative AI, robotics, education, healthcare technology and gaming. Patel emphasized that Micron's Sanand facility was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in February 2026, positioning Gujarat as a significant player in India's semiconductor manufacturing landscape.
At Google, discussions centred on AI training and youth skilling, with Google Vice President Chandu Thota expressing interest in working with Gujarat on AI training for teachers and students. According to ANI, the two sides also explored AI applications in agriculture, including analysis of crop patterns, soil and climate data. The discussions also covered Google Workspace Sovereign AI and its potential role in improving data security. As per the official statement, the delegation held round-table discussions with leaders from the AI sector focusing on opportunities in generative AI and robotics.
Separately, Patel met Perplexity AI CEO Aravind Srinivas to explore the possibility of establishing an engineering and research and development presence in Gujarat. As reported by ANI, talks also considered setting up a data centre in the state or developing a hybrid model involving a developer and Perplexity. Members of The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE) discussed potential cooperation in healthcare, healthcare-worker training and youth skilling through AI tools. According to the official statement, the engagements form part of Gujarat's efforts to expand its technology ecosystem across semiconductors, AI and digital infrastructure while encouraging applications of emerging technologies in sectors including agriculture, education and healthcare.
