Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on Monday invited global and domestic investors to participate in the 11th Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit (VGGS) scheduled for January 10-12, 2027. According to reports from Business Standard, the summit will be held under the theme Viksit Gujarat: Shaping Global Future. Patel emphasized that the summit marks 25 years of Gujarat's continuous development under Prime Minister Modi's leadership and reflects the state's aspirations for the future. The chief minister said the Vibrant Gujarat Summit, initiated under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership in 2003, had become a symbol of global investors' trust in Gujarat and a knowledge-sharing platform. Patel called upon investors to drive development, create employment and strengthen innovation for Viksit Gujarat and Viksit Bharat, urging businesses to partner Gujarat in its development journey and contribute to the broader goal of building a 'Viksit Gujarat' as part of the vision for 'Viksit Bharat 2047'.
Gujarat has established itself as a significant player in India's semiconductor sector, with six of the 12 semiconductor projects approved in the country located in Gujarat. As reported by Business Standard, three facilities are already operational in the state. The government is seeking investment opportunities in semiconductors and electronics, along with soft power, fintech, green hydrogen and artificial intelligence. Patel said Gujarat had proven its strength in traditional industries and was now gearing up to take the lead in future industries, with VGGS 2027 focusing on emerging sectors including these cutting-edge technologies. Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya also called on investors to examine opportunities in emerging areas such as green hydrogen, hydrogen storage, data centres and semiconductor manufacturing and participate in VGGS-2027. Mandaviya noted that entrepreneurship is deeply rooted in Gujarat's culture, with its positive outlook and business tradition making it a leading investment destination, observing "From the Lothal era to the present, Gujarat has remained closely connected with trade, entrepreneurship and international commerce."
Gujarat maintains its position as a major economic contributor, with the state representing a $318 billion economy and contributing 8.2 per cent to the country's gross domestic product (GDP) in FY25. According to figures shared at the event, the state has attracted cumulative foreign direct investment (FDI) inflows of $74.6 billion between January 2000 and March 2026. Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi highlighted the state's remarkable economic expansion, saying Gujarat's economy had grown from around ₹1.42 lakh crore in 2002-03 to approximately ₹27 lakh crore today. He emphasized that Gujarat accounts for around 5% of India's population and 6% of its geographical area, but contributes 8.2% of the country's GDP and around 18% of its manufacturing output. The state has attracted nearly $51 billion in foreign investment between October 2019 and March 2026, as reported by ASSOCHAM President Nirmal Minda. Gujarat's exports reached approximately $55 billion as of June 2026, accounting for around 27 per cent of India's total state-wise exports. The state handles over 40 per cent of the nation's cargo through its ports and contributes significantly to India's global supply chain.
Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel emphasized that Gujarat's development model extends beyond traditional infrastructure to create a comprehensive ecosystem for investors. As reported by Business Standard, Patel said the 'Gujarat Model' goes beyond roads, electricity, water and industries to offer investors policy stability, speed, transparency, skilled manpower, trust and security. The chief minister highlighted that policy stability, transparent decision-making and swift governance create a conducive environment for attracting investment. Patel urged investors and business leaders to join Gujarat's growth journey, stating that investments should fuel development, industries should create jobs and innovation should help strengthen India. The curtain-raiser event was held for the first time at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, attended by Minister of State Nimuben Bambhaniya, Principal Advisor to the Chief Minister Hasmukh Adhia, Chief Secretary M.K. Das and senior officials from the central and Gujarat governments. During the event, Patel also held one-on-one meetings with representatives of leading companies across sectors, focusing on investment opportunities, expansion plans and strategic partnerships. Several leading industrialists and investors also participated in the event.
Patel highlighted Gujarat's 'Development with Delivery' approach, saying the Gujarat Model goes beyond roads, electricity, water and industries to offer investors comprehensive support. The chief minister said the state was fully prepared to advance the 'Saptadhara' development vision outlined by Modi on Independence Day, covering manufacturing, agro-food production and food processing, technology and innovation, logistics, defence, the green and blue economy, and soft power. With VGGS 2027 marking 25 years of Gujarat's continuous development under Modi's leadership, Patel said the summit would help translate the state's existing industrial strengths into new opportunities in future industries. The summit aims to position Gujarat not only as a leading investment destination but also as a growth engine for the nation. Patel described the Prime Minister as a visionary leader inspiring the confidence encapsulated in the phrase "Modi Hai Toh Mumkin Hai" and noted that the Prime Minister has turned seemingly impossible tasks into realities, integrating his mantra of "Je Kehvu Te Karvu" into action through the Vibrant Summit. The summit is expected to focus on sectors including semiconductors, fintech, artificial intelligence, green hydrogen, green growth and soft power, positioning Gujarat as an engine of India's economic growth rather than merely an investment destination.
