Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary announced that his government would soon roll out a comprehensive Artificial Intelligence policy as part of plans to develop Bihar as a major AI hub. Speaking at the inauguration of the 'Bihar AI Summit 2026' at Urja Stadium in Patna, Choudhary emphasized that AI would play a key role in transforming governance, improving transparency and accelerating Bihar's development trajectory. According to reports from Hindustan Times, the CM stated that AI is set to become an integral part of daily life in the coming years and noted that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India has witnessed a communication revolution and AI will further accelerate this transformation. The CM highlighted the growing digital reach, noting that nearly 1.2 billion people in India are using mobile phones today, and credited former CM Nitish Kumar for strengthening basic infrastructure such as electricity, roads and water in Bihar, adding that the state's progress is crucial for India to achieve developed nation status. As per Hindustan Times, Choudhary made it clear that the government is actively working on this AI policy, which will be unveiled soon to position Bihar among the country's leading developed states.
Choudhary directed all government departments to adopt AI-based technologies to enhance transparency and accountability in implementation of schemes. As reported by Hindustan Times, he specifically announced that technology will play a key role in ongoing assistance camps at the panchayat level and strict timelines will be enforced. The CM announced that complaints received at 'Sahyog Shivirs' must be resolved within 30 days, failing which the Chief Minister's Office will initiate action against the concerned official on the 31st day. Additionally, a dedicated section will also be created on the Sahyog portal to invite public suggestions for Bihar's development. This digital transformation initiative represents a significant step toward modernizing government operations and improving citizen services.
Choudhary announced that the proposed 125-km Ganga Expressway project, estimated at ₹30,000 crore, would be constructed within three years under the public-private partnership model. According to Hindustan Times, he also revealed that the long-pending Vikramshila University project would be established within the current financial year as part of efforts to revive Bihar's historical legacy. The CM announced that degree colleges would be established in 211 blocks from July onward, while model schools would be opened in all 534 blocks of Bihar, with 10 such schools coming up in Patna and five each in districts with municipal corporations. As per the latest reports, these municipal corporation towns include Gaya, Bihar Sharif, Bhagalpur, Purnea, Darbhanga, Muzaffarpur, Motihari, Hajipur and Chhapra. The CM also announced that free bus services will be provided to students appearing for the NEET examination on June 21.
Appealing to migrant Biharis to contribute to the state's growth, Choudhary said the government was focused on creating employment opportunities within the state to reduce distress migration for labour work.
