Public sector oil marketing companies are urging customers with pending Aadhaar-based e-KYC to complete verification by August 16, 2026. According to reports from The Economic Times and Kanak News, customers using Indane, HP Gas, or Bharat Gas domestic LPG connections who have not completed the verification process may become ineligible to receive LPG cylinders at notified domestic rates until the process is completed. The deadline applies specifically to customers whose e-KYC remains pending, with eligible Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) beneficiaries also facing potential disruption in receiving LPG subsidies. As per Kanak News, customers who have already completed the verification are not required to repeat the process. Recent messages from oil marketing companies to customers read: "Dear customer, you are required to do e-KYC for receiving LPG cylinder at domestic rates. Despite earlier reminders, you have not done your e-KYC so far. You can do e-KYC at your home through the IndianOil ONE App or at your distributor or through the delivery personnel. Failure to do e-KYC by 16.08.26 would make you ineligible for cylinders at domestic rates till e-KYC is completed. Kindly complete your e-KYC at the earliest."
In Ghaziabad district, nearly 10 lakh of the district's around 12 lakh registered LPG consumers have successfully completed the mandatory e-KYC process, leaving approximately 2 lakh users still pending verification ahead of the August 16 deadline. District supply officer Amit Tiwari confirmed that the verification drive is being closely monitored and urged all remaining eligible consumers to complete it before the deadline. Officials have advised that consumers who have changed their mobile numbers, relocated or whose Aadhaar details and records have inconsistencies have been advised to get these discrepancies corrected at their nearest agency to avoid facing delays. The verification process is available through multiple channels including the IndianOil ONE App, by visiting the nearest LPG distributor, or through delivery personnel during cylinder delivery where the facility is available.
Commercial LPG prices have experienced significant reductions for the second consecutive month, with 19 kg LPG cylinders becoming cheaper by ₹192 to ₹209 across major cities. In Delhi, commercial LPG prices dropped by ₹192 to ₹2,738, while in Mumbai, prices dipped by ₹194 to ₹2,691.50 per cylinder. In Kolkata, LPG is down by ₹209 to ₹2,872.50 and in Chennai, 19 kg cylinder prices are lower by ₹200 to ₹2,906 per cylinder. However, 14.2 kg LPG prices remain unchanged for the second consecutive month, with a 14.2 Kg LPG cylinder continuing to be available at ₹942 in Delhi, ₹968 in Kolkata, ₹941.50 in Mumbai, and ₹957.50 in Chennai. Additionally, oil marketing companies are expanding their express delivery of newly launched composite cylinders, with Indane XtraLite currently offered in cities like Pune, Gurugram, Indore and Coimbatore, expanding to additional 25 cities by mid-August, while BPCL's Bharat Lite Zip is expected to reach over 100 cities across 24 cities by August 15, 2026.
Under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY), the government is offering subsidy on 4 LPG refills compared to earlier 9 refills per year. This represents a significant reduction in subsidy benefits for eligible beneficiaries. The scheme directs LPG customers covered under PMUY to complete their e-KYC before August 16, 2026, or else they will be ineligible to receive the LPG subsidy benefits. The government has also made it mandatory that one household will have only one cooking gas, either LPG or PNG, but wherever PNG facility is available, households must switch to PNG mandatorily. However, customers can avail a transfer voucher to reconnect with LPG cylinders, if moving to non-PNG area. The rule to switch to PNG if there is infrastructure available for piped natural gas in your locality will continue in August 2026.
