
Russia and India are actively working to increase bilateral trade volumes, with Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirming the countries are pursuing a $100 billion trade target by 2030 from the current $60 billion. According to reports from TASS news agency, Peskov stated that the trade volume is showing a steady uptrend and expressed satisfaction with the current progress. The ambitious target was established during President Vladimir Putin's visit to India in December last year, representing a significant increase from current levels. As per Rediff Moneynews, Peskov emphasized that "We are pleased to note that this volume is showing a steady uptrend. We will keep working along these lines."
Peskov emphasized the notably privileged partnership between Russia and India, highlighting India's position as the world's most populous country and one of the fastest-growing economies. As reported by TASS news agency, he described India as brimming with potential across all sectors and noted that the relationship is further reinforced by joint participation in various international organisations. Peskov called India one of the biggest countries that shows very high development pace and praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi's success over the last 25 years in covering economic and social development gaps. According to Rediff Moneynews, he told Russia Today that "The country which over the last 25 years has covered a big gap when it comes to economic and social development. And Mr (Narendra) Modi, the prime minister, has been very successful."
