Elaborate preparations are under way for the inauguration and the public meeting, with arrangements being made across a 60-acre venue while parking facilities are being organised for around 3,000 vehicles.

According to the New Indian Express, the airport has been designed to handle up to 40 million passengers annually in the long term. The terminal building is inspired by the shape of a flying fish, reflecting the culture and heritage of north coastal Andhra Pradesh. The airport also includes a cargo terminal with an annual handling capacity of 20,000 metric tonnes, aimed at supporting exports from the region's aqua, pharmaceutical, mango and agricultural sectors. Security arrangements have been divided into four sectors to ensure effective crowd and traffic management during the inauguration ceremony. Chief Minister Naidu directed officials to ensure that every aspect of the airport reflects the rich culture and artistic heritage of Andhra Pradesh, ensuring the project showcases the region's unique identity.

A six lane coastal corridor connecting RK Beach in Visakhapatnam to Bhogapuram is also planned. Additionally, a proposal for a double-decker metro link from Visakhapatnam to the airport is under consideration by the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs. Union Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu stated that the airport had received all necessary operational clearances and that commercial flight operations are expected to commence shortly after the inauguration. The airport is positioned to become a major catalyst for investment, tourism, industrial growth and employment generation across the region, with Naidu noting that with irrigation projects, highways, ports, airports, and tourism infrastructure, north Andhra is poised for unprecedented growth.
