Air India has officially launched EasyRoam, a new travel SIM card service in partnership with Tata Communications. The collaboration was announced on October 8, 2026, combining Tata Communications' telecommunications infrastructure with Air India's customer base to offer seamless connectivity solutions for international travelers. The service is now available as both a physical SIM and eSIM, providing Air India passengers with comprehensive voice and data services while traveling internationally.
The EasyRoam service is currently being offered free of charge to Air India passengers, with roaming pack charges applying based on destination and plan selection. The service covers 30 countries across North America, Europe, Australia, Asia Pacific, and the Middle East, with roaming pack prices starting at ₹241 exclusive of taxes. Customers purchasing data plans can receive up to 1GB of additional complimentary data, with the exception of the Maldives and Mauritius. The service is available for purchase through the Air India website and will soon be accessible via the Air India mobile app.
The geographical coverage of EasyRoam SIM is set to expand to 190 countries, offering destination-specific or worldwide travel plans with options for data-only or voice and data connectivity. The service is designed to meet the evolving needs of modern travelers who expect seamless, instant, and secure connectivity. As per Vivek Manglik, Executive Vice President at Tata Communications, the initiative aims to simplify international connectivity, providing travelers with greater control and peace of mind by integrating travel connectivity into the booking journey.
According to Nipun Aggarwal, Chief Commercial Officer at Air India, this collaboration addresses the changing nature of travel as individuals increasingly live and work across borders. The service enables customers to stay connected effortlessly while traveling, aligning with Air India's ongoing transformation programme Vihaan.AI as it seeks to modernize and expand services following its return to Tata Sons in 2022. Analysts view this collaboration as a strategic move for both companies, enhancing customer experience and potentially increasing customer loyalty through improved international connectivity solutions.
