
Reliance Industries has achieved a historic milestone by posting an annual net profit of more than ₹10,000 crore for the first time as an Indian company, according to the latest annual report. The company's market capitalization stands at ₹18.26 lakh crore, while the promoters' net worth is ₹9.1 lakh crore. Chairman Mukesh Ambani declared that "This is India's decade, and that's not a coincidence, but a result of our choice and conviction." The company's share price has declined by 4.3% in the past year, reflecting market dynamics despite the strong financial performance.
Reliance Industries is positioning artificial intelligence as the cornerstone of its media and entertainment strategy, according to reports from PTI. The Mukesh Ambani-led conglomerate stated that AI will define the next era of entertainment and emphasized that as India's largest media & entertainment platform, Reliance has the responsibility to lead this transformation. The company is integrating AI across multiple aspects including content creation, audience engagement, and consumer experience, moving beyond efficiency gains to fundamentally reshape how entertainment is delivered. As per Rediff Moneynews, Reliance is embedding AI at the core of its media and entertainment empire as it seeks to position itself as the primary entertainment destination for every Indian, reimagining everything from script to screen and from idea to experience.
Reliance's media and entertainment vertical demonstrated exceptional growth in FY26, as reported by PTI. The vertical, comprising JioStar, Jio Studios and Network18, generated revenue from operations of ₹34,917 crore in FY26, representing a nearly doubling from ₹17,762 crore in the previous year. This substantial revenue increase underscores the significant expansion of the company's media and entertainment operations during this period. According to Rediff Moneynews, the Reliance Media & Entertainment vertical delivered record-breaking metrics in viewership, engagement and monetisation in FY26, with the company emphasizing that AI will not be viewed merely as a driver of business efficiency but as a core capability to transform content creation, consumer experience and audience engagement.
Beyond AI, Reliance has made significant strides in energy transition by establishing the Dhirubhai Ambani Green Energy Giga Complex in Jamnagar, Gujarat, as reported by PTI. This project seeks to accelerate efforts towards providing clean, sustainable, and affordable energy for India. The company has also launched Reliance Intelligence, a new company with the primary objective of democratizing the power of artificial intelligence rather than limiting it to a few. Chairman Mukesh Ambani envisions India developing indigenous artificial intelligence that will be developed and scaled within the country to enable everyone from individuals to small and big businesses and organizations to leverage AI. He also envisages Jio leading the digital transformation globally through connectivity, AI, cloud, and digital services.
JioStar has reinforced its status as India's premier entertainment powerhouse, with the network commanding a 48 per cent market share in the Hindi GEC (Pay) segment, while its JioStar remains India's premier sports aggregator reaching a billion screens with over 250 days of live action. Its OTT platform has solidified its reign as India's premier digital entertainment ecosystem, scaling to an average of 451 million monthly active users, as reported by Rediff Moneynews. The company noted that JioStar will continue to be the 'home of sports' in India and bring to life some of the most-loved stories from around the world. However, Reliance also acknowledged challenges including upward pressure on content costs and audience fragmentation, which necessitates platform-agnostic and multi-format content strategies.
