According to reports from Upstox Securities, Reliance Jio has achieved a significant milestone by crossing 524 million users, marking a substantial expansion in its subscriber base. The telecom giant's 5G user base reached over 268 million after adding 77 million subscribers during the year, establishing it as the largest single-country 5G operator outside China. Speaking at Reliance Industries' 49th annual general meeting, Akash Ambani, Managing Director of Jio Platforms, said Jio's scale has reached an "extraordinary" level within a decade of launch. This growth demonstrates Jio's continued dominance in India's telecommunications market and its successful transition to next-generation network technology.
As reported by Upstox Securities, Reliance Jio delivered exceptional financial results for FY26, with profit topping ₹30,000 crore for the first time in the company's history. The strong financial performance was driven by revenue growth of 14.6% year-on-year to ₹1,46,885 crore and EBITDA increasing 18.8% to ₹76,255 crore. EBITDA margin improved by 190 basis points to 51.9%, reflecting the company's operational efficiency. The financial milestone underscores Jio's robust business model and market positioning in the competitive telecommunications sector.
According to the latest reports, Reliance Jio achieved remarkable network performance with total data traffic reaching 241 exabytes in FY26, up 30.8% year-on-year. The company's JioAirFiber fixed wireless broadband business now connects 13 million homes across India, having become the world's largest fixed wireless broadband operator last year. Per-capita data consumption on Jio's network has reached 42.3 GB per month, among the highest globally, with home broadband connections growing at a rate of up to 60,000 per day. The rapid expansion demonstrates strong demand for data services and Jio's successful broadband strategy.
At the RIL AGM 2026, Reliance Jio unveiled significant AI-powered initiatives including an AI-powered calling assistant that will be rolled out to over 500 million subscribers later this year. The AI assistant can transcribe calls in real time, identify up to 10 speakers on conference calls, generate summaries, create action items and reminders, and perform tasks such as ordering food or booking services without requiring users to leave calls. Akash Ambani announced ambitious targets including migrating all subscribers to 5G by 2030 and advancing India's leadership position in 6G standards. The company also announced a major overhaul of the MyJio app used by more than 600 million customers, enabling voice and text-based interactions for seamless customer service.
