JSW MG Motor India reported a 14% year-on-year rise in August wholesales, reaching 7,508 units, according to the company announcement on Tuesday. The sales volume during August 2026 were recorded at 6,578 units, demonstrating strong momentum across both its Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) and New Energy Vehicle (NEV) portfolios during the reporting month. This performance continues the company's positive sales trajectory, though the growth rate has moderated from the 52% year-on-year increase recorded in August 2025, when monthly sales reached 6,578 units from 4,323 units in August 2024.
The company last month launched its Tomahawk SUV, built on the company's first SUV on its Multi-New Energy Vehicle platform, ADAPT. The latest SUV model Tomahawk is available in both EV and Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) powertrain options, expanding the company's electric vehicle portfolio significantly. The Tomahawk is built on what JSW MG Motor describes as a multi-powertrain platform called ADAPT, representing the company's attempt to address buyers who want flexibility in drivetrain choice within a single model line. For the Hector Tomahawk EV, the company is offering a Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) pricing structure starting at ₹13.99 lakh, with an added battery rental charge of ₹4.90 per kilometre. Buyers who prefer full vehicle ownership can purchase the EV at an ex-showroom price starting at ₹19.49 lakh. The Hector Tomahawk PHEV is priced from ₹21.79 lakh under the BaaS model — with a ₹3.20-per-kilometre battery rental — or ₹25.69 lakh for outright ownership.
JSW MG Motor India has commenced dispatches of the MG Hector Tomahawk EV to dealerships across India, as reported by the company. Deliveries of the Hector Tomahawk EV are scheduled to begin in September 2026, while test drives and deliveries of the PHEV variant are set to commence in November 2026. The company's focus on multi-powertrain options positions it well to capture diverse customer preferences in the evolving automotive landscape. As per the latest reports, the company has sold over 1,50,000 electric vehicles in India since its first EV launch, with the MG Windsor holding the position of the country's top-selling EV.
The Windsor sold 19,394 units in FY2025 after its launch in September 2024, and held the top spot among EVs for ten consecutive months. Electric vehicles accounted for approximately 58% of the company's total volumes in FY2025, against an industry-wide EV penetration of around 2.7% in passenger car sales for the same period. As of March 2025, JSW MG Motor held a 31% retail market share in the passenger EV segment, behind Tata Motors, which held a 38% share. The company is a joint venture between the JSW Group and Chinese automaker SAIC Motor.
