About the company
Gujarat Mineral Development Corporation Limited (GMDC) is an Indian mining and mineral processing company established by the Government of Gujarat in 1963. It is the largest merchant seller of lignite in India, operating five lignite mines. GMDC also produces bauxite, fluorspar, and manganese ore, and engages in power generation. The company's operations include thermal, solar, and wind power projects. GMDC has bauxite mines in Kutch and Devbhoomi Dwarka, a fluorspar project in Kadipani, and a manganese project in Shivrajpur. The company has diversified into wind energy with a 200 MW wind turbine commissioned in various districts of Gujarat in 2022. GMDC also operates a 250 MW thermal power plant at Nani Chher and has been allocated two coal blocks in Odisha.
