Neervana Netzero, a sustainability-focused startup backed by market expert Gurmeet Chadha, has emerged as one of the top three business ventures in the Rajasthan Green Innovation Challenge. According to reports from ZeeBiz, the startup was felicitated at the state-level competition for its innovative approach to addressing air pollution, carbon emissions and wastewater management through nature-based solutions. The recognition earned Neervana Netzero recognition from Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma.
At the heart of Neervana Netzero's innovation is a nature-based climate tower designed to help reduce urban air pollution. As reported by ZeeBiz, the tower can be readily deployed in cities and has the potential to mitigate air pollution by as much as 60 per cent. The technology relies on an extremely fast-growing native Indian aquatic fern that performs multiple environmental functions simultaneously, helping absorb pollutants from the environment, capturing carbon dioxide, generating oxygen and treating wastewater streams.
Beyond its environmental benefits, the biomass generated through the process has potential commercial applications. According to ZeeBiz, the biomass can be converted into fertiliser, used as animal fodder, processed into pellets and even utilised as feedstock for biodiesel production. This dual approach of environmental impact and commercial viability aligns with the startup's mission to create sustainable solutions.
Gurmeet Chadha highlighted the role of the startup's young founders, Souryadeep Basak and Saatvik Narayan Mishra, in building solutions that align with the country's broader goals of self-reliance in energy and fertilisers. As reported by ZeeBiz, Chadha emphasized that "As India aims for self-reliance on the fronts of energy and fertiliser, I am excited to be associated with the journey of a set of passionate young entrepreneurs." The recognition comes as the country seeks sustainable solutions to address rising urban pollution levels while reducing dependence on imported energy resources and fertiliser inputs.
The Rajasthan Green Innovation Challenge was aimed at identifying and promoting ventures developing practical technologies and business models that contribute to environmental sustainability. According to ZeeBiz, the Rajasthan State Pollution Control Board acknowledged the venture's efforts to tackle environmental and geopolitical challenges through creative problem-solving. The recognition provides greater visibility to the startup as it looks to scale its solution across urban centres, with nature-based technologies increasingly gaining attention from policymakers and investors as cost-effective alternatives to traditional pollution-control infrastructure.
