Prestige Group and Bengaluru Airport City Limited (BACL) officially unveiled plans for a landmark integrated destination within Bengaluru Airport City on June 11, marking a significant milestone in the transformation of Bengaluru Airport City into a vibrant urban destination. The project represents a ₹1,800 crore investment by Prestige Group and is designed as a state-of-the-art convention centre at its core, with the initiative marking a significant milestone in the evolution of Bengaluru Airport City as a globally competitive urban precinct. The Convention Centre is anticipated to become a leading venue in the region for international conferences, exhibitions, corporate events, and cultural gatherings, specifically aimed at boosting business tourism and mega events. The development spans 1.5 million square feet and is expected to commence construction by early 2027, with inauguration targeted for the first quarter of 2031.
The development features an iconic convention and exhibition centre, luxury hotels under the globally renowned St. Regis brand and Marriott Marquis brand, premium office space, a performing arts centre, destination retail, and curated food and beverage experiences. As reported by Business Standard, these facilities are strategically designed to serve a diverse mix of global travellers, event organisers, corporations, visitors, and residents within the airport city environment. The Convention Centre is poised to become one of the region's premier venues for international conferences, exhibitions, corporate events, and cultural gatherings. The overall development is projected to contribute significantly to creating a vibrant destination that seamlessly blends commerce, hospitality, entertainment, and culture, further catalyzing economic growth and employment opportunities in the airport corridor.
According to Business Standard, Prestige Group is looking to develop an initial inventory of over 350 keys across two hospitality brands, including the convention-focused Marriott Marquis and ultra-luxury Marriott St. Regis. The room count could be scaled up further, depending on demand and project requirements. Kohn Pedersen Fox (KPF), a London-based architectural firm, has been appointed for the development. The group also shared its plan to inaugurate about 25 hotels with 5,500 keys across India, over the next five years. As of March 2026, the group has delivered 316 projects spanning 212 million square feet and currently has a pipeline of 135 projects across 227 million square feet.

The project aims to establish a world-class business, hospitality, and cultural hub that will elevate Bengaluru's stature on the world stage through this globally competitive urban precinct. The performing arts venue is expected to emerge as a destination attraction in its own right, enhancing the region's cultural and entertainment infrastructure.
Mr. Hari Marar, Managing Director & CEO of Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL), highlighted that the next phase of urban growth will be defined by creating destinations that bring together enterprise, talent and ideas at scale. According to Business Standard, Marar noted that their partnership with Prestige Group is an important step in that direction, as airport cities continue to emerge as engines of economic and social activity. Marar said the convention centre would serve as the centrepiece of the Airport City's mixed-use development, noting that Bengaluru has long lacked a world-class convention facility capable of hosting large international events. The airport ecosystem has the potential to accommodate 15-18 million square feet of office space and between 4,500 and 5,200 hotel rooms over the long term. Marar added that developments such as these play an important role in shaping the ecosystems that surround them, with the project specifically aimed at strengthening Bengaluru's appeal as a global gateway while advancing the vision of the planned Bengaluru airport city.
According to Business Standard, Airport City now has about 110 acres either developed or under development, with major projects including maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) facilities being developed by Air India and IndiGo, a 2-million-square-foot office park, a concert arena, hotels and a planned medical district. As part of the airport concession agreement, BIAL has nearly 4,000 acres of land, of which around 400 acres have been earmarked for Airport City. This year, a 775-key hotel and 2 million sq ft of office space are going to open in the Airport City. The vision is to create a hub for business, culture, hospitality, entertainment and economic activity in north Bengaluru, with the development planned as a fully integrated mixed-use district comprising office spaces, convention facilities, retail, dining, entertainment, hospitality, a medical district and academic institutions.
