
Six companies made their stock market debut on Thursday, setting a record for the most mainboard listings on a single day since at least 1996. According to reports from Business Standard and The Economic Times, four of the six companies made strong debuts, ending their first session with gains ranging from 1.99% to 38.6% over their issue prices. The previous record for most single-day listings was on December 27, 2024, when five companies - Dam Capital, Concord Enviro, Mamata Machinery, Sanathan Textile and Transrail Light - made their debuts.
Karamtara Engineering emerged as the top performer, closing at ₹351.95, up 38.6% from its issue price. As reported by Business Standard, RentoMojo followed closely at ₹532.95, up 31.9%, while Steamhouse India ended at ₹102.2, up 26.2%. LCC Projects closed at ₹172.8, up 18.3%, and Manipal Payment and Identity Solutions finished at ₹345.8, up 1.99%. Only Asset Reconstruction Company ended in the red, declining 1.4% from its issue price, but it later recovered to trade 1.8% higher during the session.
Three newly listed companies dominated trading activity on Thursday, generating a combined turnover of ₹5,812 crore and accounting for nearly 6% of NSE's total cash-market turnover of ₹98,222 crore. According to CNBC TV18, RentoMojo emerged as the most actively traded stock with shares worth ₹2,349 crore changing hands, followed by Kanohar Electricals at ₹1,916 crore and Glass Wall Systems (India)* at ₹1,546 crore. RentoMojo saw about 4.6 crore shares traded, generating a turnover equivalent to about 42% of its market capitalisation of ₹5,562 crore. Kanohar Electricals traded about 2.3 crore shares against a market capitalisation of around ₹6,500 crore, while Glass Wall Systems saw 6.4 crore shares change hands, pushing the stock to its upper circuit.
According to Prime Database data cited by Business Standard, RentoMojo raised the highest amount at ₹1,201 crore. LCC Projects raised ₹419 crore, Steamhouse India raised ₹414 crore, and Manipal Payment raised ₹781 crore through fresh issues and offers for sale. Asset Reconstruction Company's ₹696 crore offering consisted entirely of an offer for sale.
As reported by Business Standard, there were only 10 other instances when four or more mainboard listings occurred on the exchanges since 1996. The previous instances included four listings each on April 18, 1995, August 31, 1995, February 15, 1996, and June 5, 2000, and five companies on February 27, 1996. Other notable instances were recorded on September 30, 2025, August 26, 2025, August 16, 2021, March 19, 2007, and March 7, 2007.
According to Prime Database data reported by Business Standard, the six listings came amid a strong run for mainboard IPOs in 2026. 81 companies have raised ₹1.04 trillion so far in calendar year 2026, compared with ₹1.76 trillion raised across 103 mainboard issues through the whole of calendar year 2025. SME IPOs have raised ₹6,814 crore across 151 issues so far in 2026, compared with ₹11,455 crore raised across 267 SME issues in 2025.
