Managing Director Kennady V. Kaippally defended the company's royalty payments to parent Bonfiglioli S.p.A., stating they provide vital access to global technology, product development and international markets. As reported by CNBC TV18, while the royalty rate is 6% on specified products, the effective rate works out to around 4.4% of revenue. Kaippally noted that 35% of the company's 2025 sales came from products introduced during the previous three years, with 59 new products launched during the year. These products benefit from the group's global research and development network, including one of its largest research centres in Chennai. The company has reduced imports from group entities from 15% of procurement in 2023 to 11%, reflecting increased localisation focus, while exports to 18 group entities account for around 20% of its business.
According to latest reports, Bonfiglioli reported a profit of ₹148.6 crore for the six months ended June 2026, representing a 29.2% increase from ₹115 crore in the corresponding period of the previous year. Revenue from operations rose 17.9% to ₹1,131.9 crore in the April–June half of 2026, compared with ₹960.4 crore in the same period last year. The company has demonstrated impressive margin expansion, with EBIT margins improving from 14.5% in 2023 to 18.4% in 2025, and first-half 2026 margins reaching 19.8%. The company maintains a debt-free profile with a healthy net cash position and outperforms listed industry peers on profitability metrics, with return on equity and return on capital employed standing near 23% and 30% respectively. The company's industrial gearboxes and gear motors, which account for nearly 41% of revenue, are expected to benefit from rapid factory automation and industry 4.0 adoption.
Managing Director Kennady V. Kaippally outlined the company's long-term growth strategy centred on localisation, operational efficiency and expanding opportunities across manufacturing, infrastructure and renewable energy. As reported by CNBC TV18, the company currently holds leading positions across its three business verticals—industrial automation, off-highway equipment and wind energy. Bonfiglioli estimates it has around 25% market share in industrial automation gearboxes in India based on revenue for CY25. The company's technical moat relies on its portfolio of over 11,800 stock keeping units (SKUs) and deep co-engineering capability, with 54% of its product portfolio co-engineered directly with OEM clients. The company operates manufacturing facilities at Thirumudivakkam and Mannur in Tamil Nadu and Talegaon in Maharashtra with an annual capacity exceeding 330,000 gear motors and gearboxes, with utilization levels ranging from 60-80% of available capacity. The company plans to expand into heavy-duty gearboxes for cement, steel and sugar plants, which forms a ₹4,000 crore market with the company currently holding only about 2% share.
Geojit Financial Services has issued a 'Subscribe' rating for Bonfiglioli Transmissions IPO, as reported by Moneycontrol. The research firm notes that at the upper price band of ₹586, BTL is valued at a CY26E P/E of 37.1x (annualised), which appears reasonable compared to its peers. Backed by market leadership across all three verticals, global parentage, expanding margins and a debt-free balance sheet, Geojit recommends the IPO with a long-term view. Bonfiglioli Transmissions Ltd is described as one of India's largest technology-led mechanical and electro-mechanical power transmission and industrial drive solutions providers, manufacturing mission-critical, precision-engineered gear motors, gearboxes and drive systems across Industry & Automation Solutions (41.0% of CY25 revenue), Wind Industry (31.5%), and Off-Highway Mobility (25.2%). However, analysts note that the IPO values the company at 46 times CY25 profit against 32-63 times for listed peers, which assumes faster growth than the 9% annual growth the company has delivered historically.
