Uttar Pradesh has significantly expanded its processed food exports to global markets, with shipments rising to ₹1,132 crore in FY26 compared to ₹727 crore in 2016-17, according to reports from Business Standard. The state government has successfully tapped international markets for agricultural and horticulture-based processed food items under the Uttar Pradesh State Horticultural Export Promotion Board (UPSHEB). Leading export destinations include the US, Canada, Germany, Sweden, the United Kingdom, Australia, the United Arab Emirates, and Saudi Arabia.
The state has achieved comprehensive geographical coverage for its export activities, with exporters now present across all 75 districts of Uttar Pradesh, as reported by Business Standard. Minister of State for Horticulture and Agricultural Exports Dinesh Pratap Singh noted that earlier exporters were concentrated in major cities, but current operations span the entire state. Currently, around 3,000 exporters are operating in UP, demonstrating the scale of the state's export infrastructure.
UPSHEB has launched a dedicated website to provide comprehensive information about export standards, procedures, and assistance programs for farmers and exporters. According to Business Standard, the website details facilities, assistance, guidance, and subsidies offered by the state to exporters. Additionally, the commissioning of the Noida International Airport has provided a major boost to export operations, while the state is developing an Integrated Testing and Treatment Park near Jewar in Greater Noida to enhance export capabilities.
Minister Singh emphasized the need for farm produce to conform to high-quality export standards to compete globally, as reported by Business Standard. The state's export expansion aligns with its broader economic goals, with Singh stating that these efforts will contribute robustly to realizing the target of UP becoming a $1 trillion economy by 2030. Recently, the state signed an MoU with Google, Network for Humanity, ITC, and Aquabridge to enhance agricultural productivity, farmers' income, and agricultural future in UP.
