Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held comprehensive discussions on India-Ukraine cooperation during their meeting on the sidelines of the G7 Summit in Evian, France. According to reports from ANI, PM Modi emphasized that India and Ukraine have been engaging extensively in recent times, with cooperation reflected across different areas. Following the meeting, PM Modi stated that "In recent times, India and Ukraine have been engaging extensively. This has been reflected in different areas of our cooperation. Our talks today were about reviewing different aspects of our cooperation." The bilateral meeting was attended by External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval. Following his meeting, PM Modi also posted on X, "Met President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Evian. In recent times, India and Ukraine have been engaging extensively. This has been reflected in different areas of our cooperation. Our talks today were about reviewing different aspects of our cooperation."
The leaders discussed the urgent need to restore trade ties to pre-war levels and expand economic cooperation between the two countries. As reported by ANI, PM Modi stated that both India and Ukraine agree that "trade ties need to be restored to what they were in the pre-war time." Zelenskyy highlighted the "great potential for cooperation" between the two countries and noted that both sides agreed to work on expanding ongoing projects across various sectors. The Ukrainian President added that "there are good industrial and other projects that we can implement together." Both nations reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening India-Ukraine relations, expanding economic cooperation, and supporting efforts to achieve peace in the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict.

The Ukrainian President added that there are "good industrial and other projects that the two countries can implement together" and confirmed that "we agreed that our teams would work through all the details." Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening India-Ukraine relations, expanding economic cooperation, and supporting efforts to achieve peace in the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict.
The meeting took place amid renewed international focus on the conflict in Ukraine during the G7 Summit. As reported by ANI, earlier G7 leaders issued a declaration reaffirming their "unwavering support" for Ukraine's sovereignty, territorial integrity and freedom, while commending the resilience of the Ukrainian people amid the prolonged conflict. The leaders also agreed to strengthen sanctions on Russia's oil and gas sectors and provide further support to help Ukraine meet its energy needs ahead of the winter season. The leaders also pledged additional air defence systems, interceptors and long-range ammunition while granting licenses to expand Ukraine's military production capabilities.
