According to reports from PTI, the country's ambassador to India, Yeskarayev Azamat, made these remarks during a high-profile Special Session titled 'Expanding Trade Vistas between India and Kazakhstan' organized by the Merchants' Chamber of Commerce & Industry (MCCI) at the Crystal Hall, Taj Bengal on Tuesday. The ambassador emphasized that Kazakhstan is looking to expand cooperation with India, particularly West Bengal, across multiple sectors including pharmaceuticals, mining, energy and manufacturing. As reported by PTI, the ambassador reaffirmed Kazakhstan's unwavering commitment to substantially broadening its commercial and strategic partnership with India, with West Bengal serving as a priority partner for future economic cooperation.
A high-level business delegation from Kazakhstan is scheduled to visit India in September to engage with leading Indian companies, including the Tata Group. As reported by PTI, the envoy is also planning to meet West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari on Wednesday to discuss avenues for strengthening economic cooperation and enhancing bilateral trade and investment initiatives within the state. Additionally, a dedicated Kazakhstan–India Business Forum is scheduled to be organized in Chennai, aimed at fostering deeper institutional and corporate engagement between enterprises from both nations. The forum will feature extensive discussions with several leading Indian business conglomerates to explore prospective avenues of collaboration.

As reported by PTI, the ambassador identified several priority sectors possessing exceptional potential for bilateral collaboration, including tea exports, food processing, agricultural products, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, engineering and capital goods, leather, textiles, chemicals, speciality chemicals, logistics, warehousing, information technology, fintech, digital innovation, education, research partnerships, tourism, hospitality, green energy, renewable technologies and sustainable industrial solutions.
Despite Kazakhstan being the largest economy in Central Asia with abundant reserves of oil, natural gas, uranium and rare earth minerals, trade between India and Kazakhstan remains below potential. As reported by PTI, officials noted that this represents significant untapped potential for bilateral economic cooperation. The ambassador highlighted that Kazakhstan is actively seeking to leverage West Bengal's strategic position as a commercial gateway, describing the state as an indispensable commercial corridor that serves as the gateway to North-Eastern India as well as South-East Asian markets. According to PTI, entrepreneurs from Kazakhstan are demonstrating significant interest in establishing commercial ventures and investment partnerships in West Bengal, with the state's sophisticated transportation infrastructure, port connectivity, industrial ecosystem, and proximity to neighbouring countries rendering it an ideal destination for Kazakh investments seeking access to broader regional markets.
