Uttar Pradesh secured over ₹50,000 crore worth investment pledges at its Global Growth Dialogue 2026 in Bengaluru on June 24, 2026. According to multiple reports, close to more than 15 companies signed MoUs for industrial parks, Global Capability Centres (GCCs), and infrastructure development. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath led the investor roadshow to position UP as the next GCC destination, with the message clear that the state is moving beyond traditional land and factories toward tech-driven, high-value employment opportunities. The Bengaluru location was strategic, as the city already understands growth patterns and serves as India's tech hub.
On the GCC front, LG, Aon, MetLife, and Table Space signed MoUs to explore Global Capability Centre operations in UP, while TeamLease entered a non-financial agreement to build a skilled talent pipeline for GCC-linked industries. As reported by multiple sources, this represents a significant shift toward knowledge-intensive sectors, with the roadshow featuring three thematic sessions covering urban infrastructure, GCCs and IT-ITeS, and foreign direct investment. The promotional materials highlighted UP's expressways, Defence Corridor, Data Centre Park, and EV ecosystem, alongside claims of improved law and order, all aimed at showcasing the state's investment potential to a city that understands growth patterns.
The Uttar Pradesh government has allocated 1,142 hectares to defence manufacturing companies as part of its strategic push to boost the sector. According to reports from Business Standard, this allocation comes as India's defence exports reached ₹38,424 crore in 2025-26, highlighting the growing importance of defence manufacturing in the state's industrial development. The UP Defence Industrial Corridor (UPDIC), launched in 2018, spans six nodes - Kanpur, Lucknow, Jhansi, Chitrakoot, Aligarh, and Agra - with the UP Expressway Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA) serving as the nodal agency. A senior UP official told Business Standard that "UP's defence manufacturing sector will not only bolster India's defence and military capabilities, but also give a push to the 'Make in UP' theme," adding that defence manufacturing will catalyse UP's ambitious goal of becoming a $1 trillion economy by 2030.
The UPDIC has secured nearly ₹40,000 crore in investment proposals across its nodes, with Kanpur leading at ₹13,000 crore, followed by Jhansi at ₹12,190 crore, Lucknow at ₹4,850 crore, Aligarh at ₹4,581 crore, Chitrakoot at ₹4,392 crore, and Agra at ₹607 crore. As reported by Business Standard, 33 per cent or over ₹13,000 crore of the current investment pipeline has already been launched, demonstrating significant progress in corridor development. Nearly 65 companies have secured land to establish their plants in the corridor with the potential to create 15,300 jobs, according to UPDIC Chief General Manager, Colonel (Retired) Sanjay Singh. The latest allotment represents over 50% of the available land (around 2,100 hectares) acquired for the corridor, marking a significant milestone as the project enters a new phase where investments are turning into operational manufacturing units.
In the Kanpur node, Adani Defence Systems and Technologies Limited has commenced operations at its mega ₹1,500 crore ammunition manufacturing facility. According to Business Standard, in Aligarh, Werywin Defence has started production of small arms with an investment of ₹65 crore, while Nitya Creations India is manufacturing precision arms components with an investment of ₹12 crore. In the Aligarh node, AMITECH has made its Space port station functional with an investment of ₹330 crore. These facilities are expected to improve India's capability to manufacture critical defence systems within the country while supporting future export opportunities and reducing import dependence on military equipment.
Lucknow is emerging as a centre for advanced defence and aerospace manufacturing, with Aerolloy Technologies commencing titanium casting operations with an investment of ₹320 crore. As reported by Business Standard, BrahMos Aerospace has started production of the BrahMos NG missile system at its ₹300 crore facility in Lucknow, while Sankalp Safety Solutions has begun manufacturing safety equipment and woven fabrics with an investment of ₹14 crore. In Kanpur, A R Polymers has started producing ballistic materials and safety gear with an investment of ₹48 crore, and Adhunik Materials and Sciences has commenced manufacturing defence textiles with an investment of nearly ₹39 crore. The ongoing expansion is expected to create over 15,300 jobs, while supporting India's goal of building a stronger domestic defence manufacturing ecosystem.
