The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is set to revise the FASTag Annual Pass fee from ₹3,000 to ₹3,075 from the financial year 2026-27, as reported by the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways. The new rates will be effective from 1 April, 2026, following the National Highways Fees Rules, 2008. The updated FASTag annual pass rates will be applicable to eligible non-commercial vehicles that already use a valid FASTag ID, offering unlimited or capped travel through specific NHAI toll plazas for the revised annual fee.
The FASTag Annual Pass now covers approximately 1,1500 fee plazas across National Highways and National Expressways, significantly expanded from the previous 121 toll plazas covered under the monthly pass scheme. The pass remains a one-time payment scheme for private vehicles, offering unlimited or capped travel (up to 200 trips) through specific NHAI toll plazas. The facility is open to all non-commercial vehicles, as long as the FASTag on that vehicle stays valid, with the pass remaining valid for one year or a total of 200 toll plaza crossings, whichever ends first.
The application process continues through digital platforms with the Rajmargyatra mobile app as the primary channel. Users can obtain the FASTag annual pass by downloading the Rajmargyatra application, logging in with credentials, and opting to activate the FASTag annual pass. Alternatively, users can visit the NHAI website to download and install the FASTag annual pass. The pass then activates within two hours on the linked FASTag, helping existing 56 lakh users move smoothly to the new fee period. The system uses consent-based integration with government digital platforms such as DigiLocker and VAHAN to verify applicant details including residential address, vehicle details, and linked FASTag.
According to the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways, uptake since launch is strong among private vehicle owners, now crossing 56 lakh users. The scheme offers "greater convenience and cost-effective travel option" for people using National Highways across India. The FASTag Annual Pass provides greater convenience by eliminating the need for frequent top-ups before road trips, while reducing queues at toll plazas and shortening journey times for frequent commuters. The initiative also reduces cash handling and eases reconciliation for toll operators while boosting digital transactions, with NHAI describing this as part of its efforts to modernise toll management and improve the road-user experience.
