The Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) has implemented a work-from-home policy for officers in Grades A to C starting May 25, 2026. According to reports from The Hindu BusinessLine, the market regulator issued an administrative advisory on May 22, 2026, allowing employees to work from home on a rotational basis for eight weeks. The policy applies specifically to Assistant Managers, Managers and Assistant General Managers in Grades A to C, while all officers in Grade 'D' and above, all employees posted in offices of Chairman/WTMs and all employees in Secretarial Cadre must attend office regularly.
Regional directors and vertical heads have been instructed to prepare periodic rosters ensuring at least 50% of officers in Grades A to C are physically present in office at any given time. As reported by The Hindu BusinessLine, departments have been advised to defer non-essential internal engagements such as conclaves, brainstorming programmes and similar events for the next eight weeks and avoid planning new conclaves during this period. However, events with existing bookings where cancellation charges may apply can continue as scheduled. Chief General Managers, Regional Directors and heads of verticals have been specifically asked to prepare these periodic rosters to maintain operational continuity.
Sebi has introduced comprehensive energy conservation measures as part of the advisory. According to The Hindu BusinessLine, employees are encouraged to use public transport, carpooling, electric vehicles, and Sebi's subsidised bus facility while avoiding private vehicles. Departments have been advised to conduct stakeholder meetings virtually wherever possible.
