Elon Musk's X officially launched its US Cashtag Partner Program on September 22, connecting stock, ETF, and cryptocurrency pages to five outside platforms: Coinbase, Gemini, Kraken, Interactive Brokers, and Moomoo. The launch coincided with Bitcoin ETFs drawing $998.95 million on Monday, marking their strongest single-day haul since October 2025. Bitcoin surged 1% over the past 24 hours, breaking through $86,000 as daily trading volume reached $135 billion per CoinGecko data. The platform's integration with major exchanges has contributed to making Bitcoin more accessible for institutional and retail investors through regulated products.
The platform has introduced Big Charts for Smart Cashtags, offering larger interactive charts on iOS and the web. Supported assets and companies include Bitcoin, Ethereum, XRP, Solana, Dogecoin, Hyperliquid, Tesla, Strategy and Coinbase. As reported by X, the feature is designed to make it easier for users to move between market discussions, charts and external trading platforms. Mridul Singhai, X's product engineering lead, stated that cashtags close the gap between a ticker on the timeline and the market itself. The feature builds upon cashtags that have been available on X for years, which were upgraded earlier this year with real-time prices and charts. X previously estimated its April Cashtag pilot drove roughly $1 billion in global trading volume within several days, though this figure remains a company estimate and has not been independently audited.
As reported by X, the platform is positioning itself as a financial hub by connecting market discussions directly with trading services. The expanded partnership program ensures that users have access to cryptocurrency trading services through Coinbase, Gemini and Kraken, while Interactive Brokers and Moomoo offer access to traditional financial markets. X emphasizes that it is not acting as a broker, with actual buying and selling still occurring at partner exchanges. Participating financial companies remain responsible for account requirements, regulatory compliance, order execution and other trading services. The program is separate from X Money, the platform's payments product, with no provision for funding trades directly from an X Money balance. Users must complete transactions through the selected partner's infrastructure, where that company handles login, onboarding and execution. As noted by Monique Pintarelli, head of global advertising at SpaceX AI, users can discover what's happening, shape the conversation, and act in real-time on what matters to them through the Cashtag partners.
According to X, the platform has millions of users worldwide with active daily engagement of around 132 million via mobile devices and over 245 million globally across all devices. The platform is described as an undisputed central hub of the crypto community, with a single post from a prominent figure having the potential to instantly shift liquidity across crypto exchanges worldwide. This so-called 'town-square' effect helps X stand out from platforms like Discord and Telegram, where conversations are often fragmented across private channels. The current U.S. rollout covers stocks, ETFs and cryptocurrencies, with product access varying according to account type, affiliate and residence for Interactive Brokers users. The shorter discovery-to-brokerage funnel created by the Cashtag integration allows users to convert Bitcoin conversations into login screens at partner exchanges in one tap, reducing friction in the trading process.
