
Trading on BSE and NSE will be operational for the full week from June 15th to June 19th, with markets closed only on weekends. According to BSE and NSE holiday list for June 2026, there is only one special holiday this month - June 26th for Muharram, an important event for Muslims worldwide. The market will be closed on June 20th and June 21st which are default weekend holidays.
Despite turbulence in the Middle East conflict, both Sensex and Nifty surged by 2% to 2.5% during the latest trading week. As reported by Goodreturns, for the trading week from June 8th to 12th, Sensex gained by 1,811.67 points or 2.46% while Nifty soared by 467 points or 2.02%. At present, the 30-scrip benchmark is at 75,527.95 and the 50-scrip index is at 23,622.90.
According to Vinod Nair, Head of Research at Geojit Investments, large-cap stocks outperformed while mid- and small-cap segments witnessed profit booking following their recent strong rally. Sentiments improved towards the end of the week on reports of a potential US-Iran peace agreement, which led to a decline in Brent crude prices. Financials emerged as top performers, led by private banks after favourable regulatory developments, while FMCG stocks advanced on expectations of sustained pricing power.
Looking ahead, market direction will be influenced by key macroeconomic data points including domestic WPI inflation, China's industrial output, and the upcoming US Fed decision. As reported by Goodreturns, Indian equities seem to be nearing the end of an extended consolidation period. Nair noted that robust domestic liquidity has played a crucial role in cushioning the market against repeated global macroeconomic disruptions, helping to offset foreign outflows and maintain stability in investor sentiment.
