Ola Electric shares surged 10% in Wednesday's trading session, reaching ₹41.50 per share on the NSE as of 2:40 pm, extending gains for the third straight day. The stock opened at ₹38.25, compared with its previous close of ₹37.78. According to latest BSE data, the stock climbed 9.6% to an intraday high of ₹41.40, with around 90 lakh shares changing hands during the first 20 minutes of trading, compared with the two-week average volume of 47.77 lakh shares. The stock was trading 8.8% higher at ₹41.10 as of 9:35 am, while the benchmark Sensex was up 0.2% at 74,680. With Wednesday's gains, Ola Electric shares have risen nearly 14% over the past three sessions and have recovered around 86% from their 52-week low of ₹22.25, recorded on March 16, 2026. However, the stock remains below its 52-week high of ₹59.20, touched on September 23, 2025. The latest rally was accompanied by live volume of 6,45,17,762 shares, indicating heavy activity in the counter.
The stock surge was driven by the launch of Ola Electric's S1Z electric scooter range, with bookings opened at the end of last month. As reported by Business Standard, the company opened dealer-operated outlets in Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Bihar, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh & Madhya Pradesh. According to Ola Electric CEO Bhavish Aggarwal, the S1Z is the company's first scooter range powered by indigenous Bharat Cell LFP technology, developed at its Battery Innovation Centre and manufactured at its Gigafactory in Tamil Nadu. The company claims the S1Z offers a range of up to 301 km under IDC testing and features 426 patents to back its cell technology. Aggarwal emphasized that battery costs account for a significant portion of an EV's overall cost, stating that Ola Electric's in-house LFP cell manufacturing would help reduce this cost, marking a significant technological breakthrough for the company.
The latest rally came amid strong financial performance indicators, with Q1FY27 revenue falling 45% YoY to ₹455 crore but rising 72% QoQ, as reported by Bonanza Research Analyst Nitant Darekar. Market share recovered significantly to 8.4% from 5.1% during the quarter, while gross margin held at 30.5% despite commodity inflation pressures. The company also received a ₹95.8-crore incentive sanctioned under the government's Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme, further supporting its expansion plans. According to Darekar, key triggers for the sharp rise include Gigafactory expansion from 2.5 GWh towards 6 GWh, merchant cell sales, and the ₹1,500-crore fundraise enabling resolution approved by the board.
A key factor keeping the stock in focus is the company's proposed fundraising plan, with the board of Ola Electric Mobility approving an enabling resolution to raise up to ₹1,500 crore through the issue of equity shares and/or other eligible instruments. The board also approved an increase in the company's authorised share capital from ₹8,318.50 crore to ₹8,721.87 crore. Shareholders will consider these proposals at the company's annual general meeting scheduled for September 30, 2026. This fundraising initiative comes as the company continues its strategic expansion and product development efforts in the competitive electric vehicle market, with analysts noting that breakeven depends on volumes continuing to grow.
Despite the recent gains, the shares of Ola Electric remain in the deep red for its IPO investors, with the stock having crashed more than 62% from its 52-week high of ₹59.20 to a 52-week low of ₹22.25 in March 2026. However, the stock has shown strong momentum with 77% gains over the last six months according to BSE Analytics data. Following the S1Z launch and recent financial performance, analysts remain cautiously optimistic about the company's prospects. Kranthi Bathini, Equity Strategist at WealthMills Securities, noted that the company's ability to improve revenue and profitability would remain important for its medium- to long-term prospects. "Ola Electric remains a calculated risk at present. The key is to see how the company improves its revenue parameters and profitability, which will be crucial for its medium- to long-term prospects. Investors with a high-risk appetite can continue to hold the stock," he added. The stock's recent movement reflects investor confidence in the company's indigenous technology development and strategic market positioning.
