According to latest market data, Hindalco continues to show strong momentum with 4% gains and remains among the top gainers. NTPC has also maintained its position as a key performer in the power sector, with the stock showing consistent strength across trading sessions. Other notable gainers include JSW Steel Ltd with a 1.07% increase to ₹1,307.50, Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd with a 1.28% rise to ₹296.30, and Dr Reddy's Laboratories Ltd gaining 1.03% to ₹1,341.60.
Coal India Ltd led the losers with a significant 4.86% decline to ₹435.90, recording the steepest percentage loss among major stocks. Oil & Natural Gas Corpn Ltd followed with a 3.81% drop to ₹276.55, while ITC Ltd declined 2.25% to ₹294.85. As reported by ET Now, HDFC Bank Ltd also faced selling pressure with a 1.43% decline to ₹767.75, and Wipro Ltd fell 0.85% to ₹201.99. Infosys Ltd rounded out the top losers with a 0.58% decrease to ₹1,160.90. HDFC Life Insurance Company Ltd also declined 0.42% to ₹616.25, indicating broad-based selling pressure across financial and technology sectors.
The Sensex opened at 75,939.86 and closed 0.10% lower at 75,931.13, trading between a high of 76,137.53 and a low of 75,869.70 during the session. According to ET Now, the Nifty 50 opened at 23,880.35 and gained 0.08% to close at 23,933.70, moving between a high of 23,950.15 and a low of 23,869.65. The Nifty Bank opened at 54,992.95 and declined 0.04% to close at 55,069.85, trading between 55,153.80 and 54,908.85. Latest market data shows the Sensex was up 41.79 points or 0.05% at 76,051.49, while the Nifty was up 16.50 points or 0.07% at 23,930.20. About 1,405 shares advanced, 827 shares declined, and 159 shares unchanged during the session.

Among the declining stocks, Coal India Ltd led with 128.42 lakh shares traded, while Oil & Natural Gas Corpn Ltd saw 44.98 lakh shares volume. ITC Ltd recorded 28.85 lakh shares volume, indicating significant investor participation across both gaining and declining stocks.
Despite positive global cues, the Indian indices opened lower on May 27 with Nifty below 23900. Foreign institutional investors (FIIs/FPIs) net sold shares worth ₹2,408 crore, while domestic institutional investors (DIIs) net bought shares worth ₹1,361 crore on May 26. During the trading session, DIIs purchased shares worth ₹15,537 crore and sold shares worth ₹14,175 crore. In contrast, FIIs bought shares worth ₹13,127 crore, but sold shares totalling ₹15,535 crore. For the year so far, FIIs have been net sellers of shares worth ₹2.73 lakh crore and DIIs have net bought shares worth ₹3.54 lakh crore. According to Ventura's latest Mutual Fund Quarterly Booklet, FIIs recorded net outflows of ₹1,31,122 crore during Jan–Mar 2026, while Domestic Institutional Investors (DIIs) infused ₹2,44,052 crore, helping offset market volatility driven by global uncertainty.
