Several significant corporate actions are coinciding with the market closure, creating additional investor considerations. LIC has set May 29 as the record date for its maiden 1:1 bonus issue, making May 27 the last day for investors to buy shares for eligibility. This corporate action will see the insurer issue one free share for every share held, capitalizing reserves and aiming to enhance share liquidity and affordability for its over 21 lakh shareholders. Additionally, twelve companies are set to turn ex-dividend on Friday, with payouts totaling over ₹250 crore. Investors must own shares by Thursday to be eligible due to SEBI's T+1 settlement and the market holiday. Bajaj Auto leads with a ₹150 final dividend among the companies going ex-dividend.
Banks will observe closures for Bakri ID (Id-Uz-Zuha) on May 27 and 28, 2026, with dates varying by state. This divergence follows central and Telangana government decisions to shift the holiday to May 28. Kerala has announced a two-day holiday for the festival. Customers should verify local bank holiday schedules before planning transactions, as the closure dates vary across different states. However, digital banking services such as UPI, internet banking, mobile banking, ATMs, and IMPS transfers are expected to function normally during the holiday period.
