The National Stock Exchange (NSE) and BSE will remain closed on May 28 to mark Bakri Id, according to the NSE's official holiday list. However, trading will remain open on Wednesday, May 27. Trading in equity derivatives, securities lending and borrowing (SLB), currency derivatives and electronic gold receipts (EGR) will also remain open on May 27. This makes Bakri Id the second stock market holiday in May, excluding weekends, following the earlier closure on May 1 for Maharashtra Day. The holiday means equity, equity derivatives and securities lending and borrowing (SLB) segments on both exchanges will remain closed for the day.

India's largest commodity exchange, Multi Commodity Exchange of India (MCX), will remain closed during the morning session on May 28 but will resume trading in the evening session. MCX has announced 16 trading holidays for 2026 involving either partial or full closures.

Trading on the equities segment operates on all days of the week (other than Saturdays, Sundays and holidays declared in advance). The regular trading session runs from 9:15 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with a closing session between 3:40 p.m. and 4:00 p.m.. Block deal sessions operate between 8:45 a.m. and 9:00 a.m., and 2:05 p.m. and 2:20 p.m.. The Exchange may adjust these timings or declare additional holidays as necessary. National Commodity & Derivatives Exchange Limited (NCDEX) will remain shut for both trading sessions on Thursday.
