Indian cryptocurrency exchange WazirX launched Taxlyst, a free tax reporting platform designed to simplify crypto tax calculations for investors. According to the latest reports, the platform allows users to upload transaction histories from any crypto exchange and generate comprehensive reports on gains, losses, and tax liabilities within minutes. The tool is specifically positioned to help investors prepare for India's income tax filing deadline ahead of the virtual digital asset tax regime requirements, offering a free, exchange-agnostic reporting platform that helps investors generate accurate, structured reports with significantly less effort. As Business Today reports, the platform provides an exchange-agnostic solution for tax compliance since it is accessible to all cryptocurrency investors, irrespective of the exchange they use.
As reported by Business Standard, Taxlyst automatically analyses trading activity and produces detailed reports including virtual digital asset (VDA) gains and losses, estimated tax liability, futures profit and loss statements, exchange-wise transaction summaries and Schedule VDA-ready reports for income tax filings. For spot transactions, the platform utilizes the First In, First Out (FIFO) method to calculate gains and losses. Users can download multiple reports based on their filing requirements, including a comprehensive PDF tax report, a Schedule VDA CSV formatted for Indian Income Tax Return filings, a complete transaction history containing trading pairs, prices, fees and TDS deductions, a USDT-INR conversion rate report used during calculations, and a detailed Futures P&L report with realised gains, losses and trading fees. According to Business Today, the platform receives basic information, analyses it, and produces a whole tax report in a matter of minutes, making it particularly useful for investors who do a lot of transactions during the fiscal year or trade on several exchanges.
According to Business Standard, WazirX founder Nischal Shetty emphasized that many investors still spend hours manually reconciling trades across different exchanges, with small calculation mistakes creating unnecessary stress during tax filing. The platform aims to remove this complexity by allowing users, regardless of the exchange they use, to upload transaction histories and receive organised, tax-ready data in a matter of minutes. Dilip Chenoy, chairperson of the Bharat Web3 Association (BWA), noted that keeping correct records and adhering to tax laws are becoming more crucial as digital assets are included in more investment portfolios. Simplifying the reporting procedure, he continued, might promote voluntary compliance and boost trust in India's digital asset sector.
The launch comes as cryptocurrency investors in India prepare to file tax returns under the country's virtual digital asset tax regime, which requires taxpayers to report gains from crypto transactions separately under Schedule VDA. This regulatory framework has created a need for comprehensive tax reporting solutions that can handle transactions across multiple exchanges and provide structured, tax-ready reports for Indian income tax returns. With the tax filing deadline approaching, Taxlyst offers Indian crypto investors a faster, simpler and more organised alternative to manual calculations, making it easier for them to comply with legal obligations and follow India's crypto tax reporting structure.
