Sui achieved a peak throughput of 40.6 million transactions per second during a live offchain test involving more than 10,000 tunnels at Sui Basecamp in Singapore on October 7. According to Sui Foundation, the demonstration exceeded its 20 million TPS target, with the test simulating AI agent activity including payments, games, and chat applications. CertiK served as independent auditor for the test, with a detailed review of proofs, execution logs, and supporting evidence still pending. The result significantly outperformed Sui's previous July test that reached approximately 6.1 million TPS using similar offchain channel technology.
SUI token fell 5.3% to approximately $1.12 on the same day as the record achievement, creating an unusual disconnect between network performance and token price. According to latest data, the token had been trading between roughly $1.15 and $1.21 for most of the past week before the decline. Despite the recent drop, SUI has gained about 57% since mid-September, when it was near $0.71. The token peaked at $1.30 towards the end of September before cooling momentum. Money flow remains the one bright spot with the Chaikin Money Flow (CMF) remaining strongly positive at 0.33 despite beginning to fall, suggesting capital flows still favor the buy side. The Relative Strength Index has fallen from above 70 during September's rally to 56.
Sui is teaming up with Alibaba Cloud to enable AI agents to pay for services-per-call using stablecoins. The partnership leverages Alibaba's massive global infrastructure across more than 90 availability zones worldwide, creating significant potential for AI agent transactions. According to Wu Blockchain, Abiodun expects AI agents to become a major source of blockchain transactions as software begins making payments, purchasing services and moving funds without manual initiation. Sui's current AI infrastructure combines several products: Walrus handles decentralized storage, Seal manages programmable access controls, and Nautilus supports verifiable computing, while Sui coordinates transactions and policies on-chain. The October demonstration tested infrastructure for rapid interactions between AI agents, with transactions taking place inside programmable channels that settle to Sui mainnet when closed.
According to Sui Foundation data, the network has processed more than $1 trillion in stablecoin transfer volume since August 2025. The foundation introduced gasless transfers for supported stablecoins in May, allowing qualifying peer-to-peer transactions to execute without users holding SUI for gas. The feature initially covered assets including USDsui, USDC, SuiUSDe, AUSD, FDUSD, USDB and USDY, with eligible transfers using a zero gas price and budget when they meet the network's allowlist requirements. USDsui gives the network its own native dollar asset, launched through Bridge, the stablecoin infrastructure company owned by Stripe, on March 4. As reported by Wu Blockchain, USDsui had reached roughly $75 million with stablecoin liquidity identified as a key metric for measuring future network adoption. Current DefiLlama data places Sui DeFi TVL near $550 million, with stablecoin market capitalization close to $482 million.
For U.S. investors, SUI staking products launched in February 2025 with Canary Capital's SUIS trading on Nasdaq and Grayscale's GSUI listed on NYSE Arca. According to February coverage, both funds began trading on February 18 and held SUI tokens directly, with Canary's product staking part or all of its holdings and Grayscale's product recording a 0.35% annual sponsor fee. Coinbase announced SUI staking on July 22 with a one-token minimum and estimated annual rewards of 1.4% to 3.3%. Crypto analyst Ali Martinez identified $1.27 as the next level to watch, saying an hourly close above it could confirm another bullish breakout. A second analyst, Celal Kucuker, suggested a bull flag was approaching resistance, arguing that a break of the pattern during October could bring $2 into view.
