Strive, Inc. (NASDAQ: ASST) disclosed via an 8-K filing on May 26 that it purchased 1,109 Bitcoin for approximately $85.4 million at an average cost of around $76,988 per coin between May 19 and May 22. According to the company's filing, this acquisition brings Strive's total Bitcoin holdings to 16,500 BTC, positioning it as the seventh-largest public corporate Bitcoin holder globally. The purchase represents a significant milestone as it has leapfrogged both Coinbase and Riot Platforms, which hold 16,492 BTC and 15,680 BTC respectively. This latest acquisition has increased Strive's Bitcoin treasury value to $1.27 billion, up from its previous holdings of approximately $1.2 billion.
Strive funds its Bitcoin accumulation primarily through at-the-market equity sales and its Variable Rate Series A Perpetual Preferred Stock instrument (SATA shares), which carry a 13% annual dividend. As reported by the company, the SATA offering raised more than $225 million in an oversubscribed January 2026 round that attracted over $600 million in demand, providing a sustained capital base for continued purchases. The company has also completed earlier acquisitions of 382 BTC for $30 million on May 18 and 444 BTC for $33.9 million in early May. Management announced it would be considering changes to its at-the-market equity programs for both its class A common shares and SATA preferred stock to allow for more flexibility in financing potential Bitcoin purchases.
Strive reported impressive performance metrics for its Bitcoin holdings, achieving a 23.4% year-to-date Bitcoin yield and an 11.0% quarter-to-date yield. The company also disclosed an amplification ratio of 45.2%, which represents the percentage change in Bitcoin per share outstanding. Strive defines Bitcoin yield as the percentage change in Bitcoin per share outstanding, serving as its primary performance metric against a Bitcoin benchmark. The company completed its acquisition of Semler Scientific in January 2026, entering that transaction with 12,798 BTC and ranking eleventh among public corporate holders before adding more than 3,700 BTC to reach its current seventh position.
Strive's 16,500 BTC position places it just above Coinbase's 16,492 BTC and well above Riot's 15,680 BTC holdings. According to BitcoinTreasuries data, Strategy remains the dominant corporate holder by a wide margin with 818,334 BTC. The gap between Strategy and the next-largest holders illustrates how concentrated the corporate Bitcoin accumulation story remains, with a handful of firms accounting for the overwhelming majority of publicly held BTC. This contrasts with recent developments such as MARA Holdings selling $1.5 billion in Bitcoin to fund its AI infrastructure pivot, highlighting divergent corporate Bitcoin strategies as holdings mature. Meanwhile, Strategy has paused its Bitcoin buying activity to repurchase $1.5 billion in 0% convertible senior notes at about $1.38 billion in cash, representing an 8% discount and leading to a massive decrease in its debt standing.
Strive's stock performance has shown mixed results, with ASST shares rising about 133% in the last three months but lagging behind other companies in the Bitcoin treasury space. The stock gained nearly 3% in pre-market trading on Tuesday, May 26, following the Bitcoin acquisition disclosure, though it dropped 0.55% during the intraday session. The company's cash and cash equivalents increased to $93.3 million compared to $87.3 million in the previous period, while Strategy's STRC shares were valued at over $50 million on Strive's balance sheet. The disclosure coincided with a temporary pause in Strategy's Bitcoin buying plans, as the company recently sold additional STRC shares worth over $2 billion to supplement its purchase of 24,869 BTC announced via Executive Chairman Michael Saylor.
