French global bank Société Générale has significantly accelerated its institutional blockchain adoption through its digital assets subsidiary SG-FORGE. According to Securities Finance Times, the bank is establishing operations on the Canton Network while joining as an Ecosystem Super Validator, giving it a more active role in the network's architecture and governance. This enhanced participation represents a serious institutional commitment to blockchain-based financial infrastructure, moving beyond simple adoption to active network participation. Salim Nemouchi, Global Head of Prime Services at Société Générale, emphasized that the public blockchain with configurable privacy provides the right framework for greater operational efficiency, targeting the plumbing of capital markets rather than retail speculation.
As reported by AMBCrypto, SG-FORGE will expand its tokenized services to include accepting certain tokenized assets as eligible collateral, acting as an on-chain trading platform for financial instruments, and deploying regulated stablecoins for institutional clients. The bank's stablecoin offerings include USD CoinVertible (USDCV) and EUR CoinVertible (EURCV) for firms seeking on-chain treasury management solutions. According to Securities Finance Times, the initiative centers on tokenised collateral, onchain financing, and institutional-grade digital settlement solutions, with the bank aiming to improve margin calls, collateral management, risk management, and settlement efficiency inside prime services. Jean-Marc Stenger, CEO of SG-FORGE, described bringing regulated stablecoins to Canton Network as a major milestone in advancing institutional tokenized finance.
According to DeFiLlama data, EURCV currently holds a market capitalization of $97 million, while USDCV has $20 million in circulation. Both stablecoins were launched by SG-FORGE in 2023 and 2025, respectively, and will facilitate settlement and cash management activities but remain restricted to non-U.S. jurisdictions. The bank has been actively exploring blockchain's potential, including integrating USDCV into Consensys' MetaMask wallet to broaden use cases for its digital assets.
According to AMBCrypto reports, the tokenized treasury money market has experienced significant growth, expanding 4x from $4 billion to over $15 billion since 2025. The broader tokenized assets market, excluding stablecoins, has reached $31 billion with approximately 4% growth in the past 30 days of trading. This growth reflects the institutional shift toward tokenization for global reach and operational efficiency. Canton Network is backed by major Wall Street players including Goldman Sachs, BNY Mellon, and Citadel Securities, positioning itself as a privacy-focused blockchain network designed specifically for institutional finance applications. The market is increasingly moving beyond speculative trading toward fee capture, institutional tokenization, and regulatory certainty that brings crypto closer to mainstream finance.
As reported by AMBCrypto, SG-FORGE previously launched its first U.S. tokenized digital bond issuance via Canton in November, marking the beginning of its tokenization strategy. The bank's expansion follows similar moves by other major financial institutions, with JPMorgan launching a second tokenized money market fund on Ethereum this week, targeting Treasury-backed assets. The Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC) is integrating Chainlink's infrastructure for 24/7 collateral management, set to launch in 2026. Broadridge Financial Solutions recently announced support for tokenized stocks, funds, and money market instruments, with its repo platform processing over $365 billion in tokenized assets daily. Additionally, the CLARITY Act's incorporation of Blockchain Regulatory Certainty Act language in Section 604 provides explicit protections for open-source developers and node operators, creating one of the clearest safe harbors yet for non-custodial blockchain infrastructure.
