CoinShares has announced a strategic partnership with Safe Labs and Railnet to offer stablecoin yield strategies through Safe's Earn widget while maintaining user self-custody. According to the press release dated October 14, the arrangement separates investment strategy design from custody, with CoinShares Capital Markets (Jersey) Limited providing the strategies, Railnet supplying vault infrastructure, and Safe Labs providing the account interface. Users retain control of their assets throughout the process, with CoinShares neither taking custody nor gaining discretionary control over user funds.
The partnership targets the substantial stablecoin market, with stablecoin balances exceeding $315 billion as of June 30 according to DefiLlama data cited in the announcement. CoinShares CEO Jean-Marie Mognetti described the integration as an extension of the company's investment work in regulated markets, stating that institutions shouldn't have to choose between maintaining asset control and accessing professionally designed yield strategies. The company argues that treasury teams need risk oversight and operational controls when selecting yield products, while unfamiliar protocols and third-party custody can present obstacles.
The integration operates through a third-party widget integrated into Safe Wallet, with Railnet connecting investment strategies to user accounts. As reported by the company, Railnet's vault infrastructure allows asset managers to build and distribute blockchain-based strategies without developing custom infrastructure for each offering. Safe Labs supplies self-custody smart account infrastructure and does not provide investment services, advice, or recommendations. Users can access the strategies through Safe's Earn widget and request withdrawals at any time, with the arrangement available to corporate treasuries, foundations, family offices, blockchain-based organizations, and individual crypto investors.
The announcement includes jurisdiction and eligibility limits, with the strategies unavailable to US persons according to the legal section. The terms state that availability depends on jurisdiction and eligibility, yields are not guaranteed, and digital assets carry a risk of losing value. Safe CEO Rahul Rumalla emphasized that the integration allows users to access professionally designed stablecoin strategies through their existing accounts, with Safe's role providing enterprises and onchain organizations secure, programmable control over their assets. The company previously launched a mining ETF on Deutsche Börse Xetra in July through a new UCITS platform, expanding access to pension funds and insurers.
