Vikran Engineering shares surged around 15% during Tuesday's trading session, hitting an intraday high of ₹64 compared to the previous close of ₹55.66. According to NSE data, the stock demonstrated exceptional trading activity with volumes exceeding 4.9 crore equity shares, marking a more than 67 times increase from the one-week average of 7,34,798 shares. As of noon deals, the stock was trading 12% higher at around ₹62.38, though it had retracted some early gains after touching intraday high levels. The high-volume gains significantly outperformed the past two-week average trading volumes of 14,45,144 equity shares, reflecting strong investor interest in the renewable energy financing milestone.
Vikran Engineering Ltd announced that its wholly owned subsidiary, NOPL Solar Projects Pvt Ltd, has secured a ₹2,941.19 crore term loan from the Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency Limited (IREDA) to partially finance a solar power project in Maharashtra. As per the company's regulatory filing, the facility agreement establishes IREDA as the lender and NOPL as the borrower, with the loan representing approximately 70% of the total estimated project cost. The loan agreement was dated October 9, 2026, and disclosed to stock exchanges on October 12, 2026. The company clarified that the loan agreement creates no direct liability for Vikran Engineering as of the disclosure date, with any resulting obligations arising upon execution of the proposed corporate guarantee.
The project involves developing a 969 MWac/1,163 MWp solar photovoltaic power project across 152 locations in Maharashtra under the Mukhyamantri Saur Krushi Vahini Yojana 2.0 (MSKVY) scheme. As reported by NSE filings, the project has an estimated total cost of ₹4,201.70 crore, with the ₹2,941.19 crore loan from IREDA being used to partially fund this outlay. The remaining cost will be funded through promoter contributions and other sources in accordance with the company's financing plans. The project is designed to enhance the transmission network at Tumkur-II, enabling the integration of an additional 2.7 GW of renewable energy capacity through the tariff-based competitive bidding route.
With the IREDA loan secured, the ₹3,517.98 crore engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract for the 969 MW solar power project has been awarded to Vikran Engineering by NOPL Solar Projects. According to NSE filings, this represents a major order win for the civil construction company, which, along with its subsidiary, will benefit from the solar projects set to be developed across several locations in Maharashtra. The company stated that "the development of the 969 MW solar power project have been finalised, marking a significant milestone towards the implementation and execution of the project." The agreement sets out terms governing loan disbursement and repayment, security creation, financial covenants, and events of default, with the parent company intending to provide a corporate guarantee in favor of IREDA to secure NOPL's obligations.
Despite the recent surge, Vikran Engineering shares have faced significant challenges in the longer term, losing 39% of their value in the past one-year period and being down 38.7% on a year-to-date basis in 2026. However, the stock has shown resilience in the near term, gaining nearly 8% in the last one-month and trading 5.9% higher in the last five market sessions. The company's shares were listed on September 3, 2025, and had earlier surged to their 52-week high of ₹118.40 on November 20, 2025, while the 52-week low was at ₹51.10 on March 30, 2026. As of Tuesday's trading session, the company's market capitalisation stood at ₹1,608.59 crore.
According to LiveMint, technical analysts present mixed views on Vikran Engineering's near-term prospects. Sudeep Shah from SBI Securities noted that the stock remains in a downtrend since its September 2025 listing, with the MACD line trading below the zero line indicating a prevailing bearish bias. He identified ₹53–55 as a crucial support zone, warning that a decisive break below this range could trigger further weakness. On the upside, the 20-week exponential moving average zone of ₹64–66 is likely to act as immediate resistance. However, Ruchit Jain from Motilal Oswal suggested the stock has staged a pullback following its recent corrective phase, with positive divergence on daily charts potentially supporting further gains toward the ₹68–70 resistance zone.
