MV Electrosystems shares have delivered exceptional returns, surging over 100% from their IPO price in just two months since their market debut. According to reports from The Economic Times, the company made a strong debut on Dalal Street in August, listing with a premium of over 22% at ₹520 apiece on NSE. Following this strong market debut, the shares jumped further, rallying over 86% in a little over a month to hit a record high of ₹970 apiece earlier this week. As per The Financial Express, the stock has since risen to around ₹920, representing a 117% jump in two months from its IPO price of ₹425.
Ace investor Madhusudan Kela is reaping strong returns as his wife Madhuri Kela's stake value has increased significantly. As reported by The Economic Times, when MV Electrosystems filed its draft red herring prospectus (DRHP) last November, Madhuri Madhusudan Kela owned 5.6% stake in the company. According to data on the company's shareholding pattern as on September 30, 2026, Madhuri Kela held 11.5 lakh shares or 4.22% stake in the company. At the record high price of ₹970, Kela's stake would be worth ₹111.55 crore. The exact buying price cannot be ascertained, but RHP revealed Madhuri Kela was allotted 5.75 lakh shares during a private placement round in October 2025 at an issue price of ₹547. As per The Financial Express, this stake is now worth approximately ₹106 crore at the closing price on October 8, 2026.
MV Electrosystems has achieved a remarkable transformation in its order book position, with the company reporting an executable order book of ₹989.32 crore as of June 30, 2026, representing approximately 20 times its FY26 sales of ₹49 crore. According to The Financial Express, this order book includes 564 units of 3-phase propulsion equipment with a three-year maintenance contract, along with developmental orders worth ₹94.72 crore, including one for EMU and MEMU propulsion. Management has indicated that deliveries would start ramping up from September 2026 and reach a steady monthly pace by January. The company's main product is the IGBT-based three-phase drive propulsion systems for electric locomotives, along with switchgear panels and vehicle control systems.
Despite the strong stock performance, financial concerns have emerged regarding the company's recent performance. As reported by The Economic Times, Shivani Nyati, Head of Wealth at Swastika Investmart, noted that investors should evaluate the company's recent financial performance. "MV Electrosystems delivered a strong listing with a 22% premium, indicating positive investor sentiment. However, the company reported weak FY26 performance, with revenue declining around 21% year-on-year and a net loss of ₹12.6 crore," Nyati stated. The latest financial data from The Financial Express shows the company's sales fell 22% in FY26 to ₹49 crore and the company swung to a net loss of ₹13 crore. The June 2026 quarter was similarly challenging with sales of ₹12.8 crore and a net loss of ₹6.9 crore, attributed to higher staff costs, low factory utilization, and costlier inventory.
The stock's exceptional performance has resulted in significant valuation metrics, with The Financial Express reporting the stock trades at approximately 50 times FY26 sales and about 7 times book value. The company's market cap stands at ₹2,421 crore following its ₹290 crore IPO that was subscribed 188.85 times. However, the investment story now depends on execution, with deliveries expected to ramp up from September 2026 and the company's ability to convert its substantial order book into revenue. As noted by The Financial Express, two critical dates approach: the lock-in expiry on November 1, 2026 for anchor investor shares and the September quarter results that will provide the first real test of the promised ramp-up in deliveries.
