
Japan's Resona Bank has announced a deeper collaboration with Tata Capital Limited to provide enhanced financing solutions for clients in India. According to The Times of India, the partnership builds on an existing relationship, with Resona Bank having previously committed $20 million as a limited partner in Tata Capital Growth Fund III LP, which invests in Tata Capital Growth Fund III, a SEBI registered category II AIF managed by Tata Capital. The latest collaboration aims to leverage both firms' local market expertise and networks, enabling Japanese businesses to access India's growing economic opportunities more easily. As per The Times of India, the announcement follows a $20 million investment by Resona Bank as a limited partner in Tata Capital Growth Fund III LP, which invests in Tata Capital Growth Fund III, a fund managed by Tata Capital.
The agreement builds on an existing relationship between the two companies, with Resona Bank having committed $20 million as a limited partner in Tata Capital Growth Fund III LP, which invests in Tata Capital Growth Fund III, a SEBI registered category II AIF managed by Tata Capital. Tata Capital said the investment also strengthens the long-standing relationship its Growth Fund business has developed with Japanese institutional investors. However, The Times of India reports that the Japanese partner did not reveal the timeline of this investment. Tata Capital said the Tata Capital Growth Fund III has a proven track record of value creation and will support companies seeking to capitalize on India's growth story.
Rajiv Sabharwal, MD and CEO of Tata Capital, said the partnership combines Tata Capital's deep understanding of the Indian market with Resona Bank's strong relationships with Japanese businesses. He added that Tata Capital Growth Fund III with a proven track record of value creation, will support companies seeking to benefit from India's growth opportunities. As per The Times of India, both companies stated that the primary objective of the business collaboration is to leverage their respective strengths in the Indian market. Mamoru Saito, Executive Officer at Resona Bank, said India is a strong market that has witnessed exponential growth and is increasingly becoming important to Japanese companies across manufacturing, sales, procurement and research and development.
Under the memorandum of understanding announced on Monday, both Tata Capital and Resona Bank will leverage their respective strengths in the Indian market. The collaboration is described as non-exclusive under which opportunities will be explored through Tata Capital's network. Under this non-exclusive collaboration, Resona Bank will leverage Tata Capital's extensive presence in India and expertise in financial services to provide support for the Bank's customers evaluating opportunities in the country, as well as those operating in the market. The partnership leverages Resona Bank's relationships with Japanese businesses and Tata Capital's deep understanding of the Indian market to facilitate cross-border business opportunities.

The modest decline occurred despite the positive strategic announcement with Resona Bank.
