Singapore-based Temasek has secured a strategic private equity investment in Romsons Group, according to a company statement released on Tuesday. While the companies did not disclose the financial details of the transaction, the deal brings together Romsons' established healthcare platform and operating capabilities with Temasek's global experience and long-term investment perspective. As reported by Mint, the investment was initially reported in October as a minority stake worth ₹1,500 crore (about $170 million), valuing the medical device manufacturer at approximately $500 million. The transaction marks a key milestone in Romsons' 70-year journey as it looks to build a larger, internationally competitive healthcare enterprise.
Kishore Narain Khanna, managing director of Romsons Group, emphasized the strategic importance of the partnership in the company's growth trajectory. According to the statement, Khanna stated that the association with Temasek marks an important new chapter for Romsons, building on the company's strong foundation in the Indian healthcare market over the years. The partnership provides opportunities to build on that foundation with greater capabilities and a global perspective, with the company's focus remaining on strengthening business, investing in products, manufacturing, technology and people to create sustainable long-term value. Sanjeev Kharbanda, group chief financial officer, emphasized that the investment marked an important step in the company's institutional evolution, with focus on disciplined capital allocation and strengthening financial and governance processes as it scales the business.
As part of the partnership, Romsons and Temasek will evaluate strategic partnerships and acquisitions in India and overseas where these align with the company's objectives, according to the company statement. The partnership is specifically aimed at supporting Romsons' expansion in India and overseas while strengthening its product portfolio, manufacturing capabilities, technology and organisational processes. Beyond capital investment, Romsons sees significant opportunities to strengthen its capabilities, expand its product portfolio and deepen its presence across domestic and international markets. The healthcare and medical devices business is evolving rapidly, presenting numerous growth opportunities that the partnership aims to capitalize on.
As the business scales, Romsons will continue to place emphasis on governance, institutional processes, and disciplined execution, as reported by the company. These priorities will support the company as it expands its operations and evaluates new opportunities. The company stated it will also assess the possibility of accessing public markets at an appropriate time, subject to its business trajectory and prevailing market conditions. Temasek's institutional capabilities and global perspective will complement Romsons' market understanding and operating strengths as the company works towards building a larger and internationally competitive healthcare business.
