
Star Health and Allied Insurance Company Ltd has set ambitious growth targets for the current fiscal year, aiming to achieve ₹24,000 crore in Gross Written Premium (GWP) in FY27, compared with ₹20,400 crore in FY26. According to reports from The Economic Times, the company has established a longer-term goal of reaching ₹30,000 crore by FY28. Managing Director Roy indicated that the company is expanding into smaller towns and villages to achieve these targets, focusing on better customer experience and claims settlement partnerships with hospitals. The retail health segment continues to dominate the company's business, contributing almost 96% of the total business, while the group portfolio accounts for 4%. As part of its expansion strategy, the company plans to launch two affordable health insurance products during the fiscal year, aimed at expanding its reach in Tier-II and Tier-III markets, adding to its existing portfolio of 35 health insurance products catering to diverse customer segments.
The company's Andhra Pradesh and Telangana operations showed significant growth momentum in FY26, with claim settlements worth ₹1,254 crore covering 1.8 lakh claims, representing a 24% year-on-year increase from ₹1,014 crore in FY25. As reported by The Economic Times, regional GWP grew from ₹1,928 crore in FY25 to ₹2,268 crore in FY26, while the number of policies increased from 8.8 lakh to 9.4 lakh. Roy noted that approximately 10% of the company's business currently comes from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, with expectations to increase to 12-15% over the next three to four years. The company has significantly expanded its network to over 1,800 hospitals in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana and more than 15,000 hospitals nationwide, supported by 75-plus branches and over 89,000 advisors in the region. Since inception, the company has settled claims worth over ₹6,064 crore across more than 9.6 lakh cases in the two states.
At the national level, Star Health settled claims worth ₹11,903 crore covering 30.6 lakh claims in FY26, according to reports from The Economic Times. Since inception, the company has settled claims worth ₹67,800 crore plus covering more than 1.5 crore claims, supported by strong operational metrics including a 92% retail claims settlement ratio, 84% cashless claims settlement, and 92% cashless claims processed within three hours. The company reported that 75% of claims are processed digitally, with 92% of cashless claims settled within three hours. The company's focus on regional markets has proven successful, with the Andhra Pradesh and Telangana region contributing significantly to overall growth.
Star Health reported significant growth in its allied healthcare services during FY26, with preventive health check-ups rising 42% to 5.48 lakh, telemedicine consultations at 1.17 lakh, and home healthcare services increasing five-fold to 92,000 across more than 300 cities. Through its CSR initiative, Arogya Seva Kendra, the company is operating 32 clinics across nine states, aiming to expand access to primary healthcare and reach over one million people. This diversification into preventive and specialized healthcare services complements the company's core insurance business and demonstrates its commitment to comprehensive healthcare solutions.
