
Star Health and Allied Insurance Company shares surged over 13% on Wednesday following the release of strong Q4 FY26 results. The insurer reported a sharp jump in net profit to ₹111.34 crore for the January-March quarter, representing a significant increase from just ₹51 lakh in the corresponding quarter of the previous year. According to reports from The Economic Times, the results exceeded brokerage estimates, though the profit declined 13% sequentially from the ₹128.22 crore reported in Q3 FY26.
The company demonstrated robust growth in key operational metrics during Q4 FY26. Net earned premium grew 14% year-on-year to ₹4,317.15 crore, up from ₹3,798 crore in Q4 FY25. As reported by The Economic Times, the insurer's underwriting losses narrowed nearly 44% YoY to ₹154 crore during the quarter, indicating improved operational efficiency. The company achieved an operating profit of ₹63.98 crore for Q4 FY26, a significant turnaround from the operating loss of ₹86.89 crore recorded in Q4 FY25.
For the complete financial year 2026, Star Health reported mixed results with net profit declining 14% to ₹556.98 crore compared to the previous year. However, according to The Economic Times, the company achieved net earned premium growth of 12% to ₹16,596.69 crore for FY26. The insurer's Combined Ratio improved to 98.8% from 101.1% in FY25, with Q4 Combined Ratio further improving from 98.4% in Q4 FY25 to 95.7% in Q4 FY26, reflecting moderation in loss ratio and enhanced operating efficiency.
As reported by The Economic Times, Star Health maintained its extensive distribution network with 900+ offices, over 8.3 lakh agents, 15,000+ network hospitals, and 18,500+ employees at the end of FY26. CEO and Managing Director Anand Roy emphasized the company's disciplined execution approach, stating that focus on prudent underwriting, operating efficiency, and retail health leadership translated into stronger profitability. The company continues to deepen digital adoption across the value chain to enhance customer experience and build long-term operating leverage.
