Skoda has officially launched the Peaq as its new global flagship model, targeting the competitive full-size electric SUV segment that includes the Kia EV9, Hyundai Ioniq 9, and Volvo EX90. According to reports from Zee News, the Czech automaker is actively considering bringing the Peaq to India, despite none of its current pure electric models - the Epiq, Elroq, and Enyaq - being sold in the country. The Peaq represents Skoda's entry into the premium electric SUV segment with advanced features and performance capabilities, positioning itself as an alternative to established players in the luxury EV market.
The Peaq offers three variants with different battery and motor configurations. The base 60 variant features a 63 kWh battery with a single rear motor producing 204 hp and claims a range of 459 km. The mid-tier 90 variant upgrades to a 91 kWh battery with a more powerful single rear motor making 286 hp and offers a range of 647 km. At the top, the 91kWh battery is available with either a 286hp RWD motor or a 299hp dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup, producing 299 hp and claiming a range of 613 km. Performance acceleration ranges from 8.6 seconds for the 60 to 6.7 seconds for the 90X, with charging capabilities of 28 minutes from 10-80% on a 199 kW DC fast charger. The larger 91 kWh battery requires 27 minutes on a 160 kW charger for the smaller 63 kWh variant.
The Peaq's interior showcases a dual-tone dashboard layout featuring a 13.6-inch rotatable touchscreen, 10-inch digital driver's display, and a heated two-spoke steering wheel carrying the brand wordmark. As reported by Autocar India, the vehicle includes a 16-speaker Sonos sound system, dual wireless phone chargers, panoramic sunroof, and USB ports across all three rows. Notable features include bidirectional charging capability, digital key functionality, and an optional augmented reality head-up display. The Relax Package offers AGR-certified massage seats, power-adjustable leg rests, front seat pillows, foldable table, and wellness app with six modes. The vehicle rolls on 19 to 21-inch aero-optimised alloy wheels depending on variant, with most controls integrated into the touchscreen interface.
The Peaq comes standard with 10 airbags, 360-degree camera, full ADAS suite, and auto park assist. According to reports from Zee News, the vehicle features integrated windshield washers directly into the wipers - a first for the brand. The Peaq supports bidirectional charging for external appliances or home electrical setup and is the first Skoda to offer digital key functionality for phone or smartwatch locking and unlocking. Optional features include an augmented reality head-up display and enhanced comfort packages. The vehicle's safety technology includes full ADAS suite integration and advanced driver assistance systems.
While Skoda is genuinely evaluating an India launch, no confirmed timeline has been announced. As reported by Zee News, if launched in India, the Peaq would position itself as an alternative to the Kia EV9, currently priced at ₹1.30 crore ex-showroom. UK pricing for the Peaq starts at GBP 51,980, which converts to approximately ₹64.95 lakh before taxes and import duties. The vehicle would likely be imported as a Completely Built Unit (CBU) if launched in the Indian market, maintaining its premium positioning in the competitive luxury EV segment. The Peaq is built on the modular MEB platform and measures 4,874mm in length, 1,867mm in width and 1,664mm in height, with a 2,965mm wheelbase.
