ReNew Solar Power has secured a $100 million financing facility from FMO, the Dutch entrepreneurial development bank, marking a historic milestone in India's renewable energy sector. According to the latest reports, this transaction represents FMO's largest single-ticket investment in India's energy sector and its largest 2X-aligned corporate financing in Asia to date. The 10-year financing facility has been extended under the Voluntary Retention Route (VRR) and will specifically support renewable energy projects currently under construction across the ReNew Group. This strategic funding arrangement provides the company with access to stable, long-term capital at a critical stage of its portfolio build-out.
As reported by Business Standard, the facility qualifies under the 2X Challenge, a global initiative focused on advancing women's economic participation and empowerment through investment. According to Kailash Vaswani, chief financial officer at ReNew, the 10-year facility gives us access to stable, long-term capital at a critical stage of our portfolio build-out, while further diversifying our funding sources across international and domestic markets. Marnix Monsfort, Director & Head Energy at FMO, emphasized that "We support the company's growth ambitions. As FMO's largest investment in India's energy sector, this transaction demonstrates our commitment to supporting India's energy transition through impactful, large-scale financing solutions."
According to the latest company statement, ReNew maintains a clean energy portfolio of 20.5 gigawatts (GW), including 1.7 GW/6.2 GWh of BESS capacity, on a gross basis as of August 18, 2026, which is one of the largest globally. The company is actively expanding its solar cell manufacturing capabilities by another 4 GW, which is expected to be operational by December 2026. This expansion demonstrates the company's commitment to scaling its renewable energy manufacturing capabilities to meet growing market demand, while also providing end-to-end solutions in clean energy, value-added energy offerings through digitalization, storage, and carbon markets that are increasingly integral to addressing climate change.
