
RailTel Corporation of India has secured a significant work order worth ₹63,00,36,301 (excluding tax) from Deendayal Port Authority (DPA). According to the latest announcement, the contract involves the design, supply, installation, testing and commissioning, along with operation and maintenance of an Integrated Gate Automation System (IGAS) at DPA, Kandla, for a five-year period. The project was received on August 12, 2026 and is scheduled for completion by August 16, 2031. This development marks a substantial business win for the company, bolstering its order book and expanding its operational footprint in the port infrastructure sector.
The company's recent financial results show mixed performance indicators. As reported by Business Standard, RailTel's standalone net profit marginally declined 0.48% to ₹65.78 crore in Q1 FY27, compared with ₹66.10 crore in Q1 FY26. However, revenue from operations demonstrated strong growth, rising 20.09% to ₹893.27 crore in Q1 FY27 from ₹743.83 crore in the corresponding quarter last year.
Following the contract announcement, RailTel's stock price showed modest gains, rising 0.23% to ₹286.45 on the BSE. The company has clarified that the order does not constitute a related-party transaction and that neither its promoters nor members of the promoter group have any interest in the order. The announcement was made in accordance with SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015, ensuring transparency and timely dissemination of material information to stakeholders.
RailTel Corporation of India was incorporated in 2000 to create a nationwide broadband, VPN, telecom and multimedia network, modernising the train control operations and safety systems of Indian Railways. According to Business Standard, it operates as a Navratna public sector undertaking (PSU) under the Government of India, with its network currently passing through around 6,000 railway stations across the country, covering all major commercial centres. This latest contract underscores RailTel's expertise in providing advanced automation solutions for critical infrastructure, aligning with the ongoing modernization efforts within India's port sector.
