NTPC Green Energy Limited announced that 62.5 MW of commercial solar capacity has been added to its portfolio through two major projects in Rajasthan. According to the latest regulatory filing, the second part capacity of 12.5 MW from a 150 MW solar project and 50 MW from a 300 MW solar project both located in Rajasthan have been declared on commercial operation effective 00:00 hours on May 15, 2026. These projects are operated by Project Eleven Renewable Power Private Limited and Project Sixteen Renewable Power Private Limited, which are step-down subsidiaries of the joint venture ONGC NTPC Green Private Limited, a 50:50 joint venture between NTPC Limited and Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC). The declarations were made under Regulation 30 of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015, and communicated to stock exchanges on May 14, 2026.
The newly operational solar projects bring the cumulative capacity of both projects to 100 MW and 200 MW respectively. As reported in the regulatory filing, Project Eleven Renewable Power Private Limited has completed its second phase of 12.5 MW, taking the project's cumulative capacity to 100 MW out of the planned 150 MW, while Project Sixteen Renewable Power Private Limited has started commercial operation of a new 50 MW capacity, raising the project's cumulative capacity to 200 MW of the planned 300 MW. These additions significantly expand NTPC Green Energy's renewable energy portfolio in the state. The disclosure was signed by Deepak C S, Company Secretary & Compliance Officer of NTPC Green Energy Limited and submitted to both the National Stock Exchange of India Limited and BSE Limited.
The commercial operations of these projects are operated through Project Eleven Renewable Power Private Limited and Project Sixteen Renewable Power Private Limited, which are step-down subsidiaries of the joint venture ONGC NTPC Green Private Limited. According to the regulatory filing, this expansion demonstrates the ongoing collaboration between NTPC Green Energy and ONGC NTPC Green Private Limited in developing renewable energy infrastructure across India, particularly in Rajasthan where these projects are located. The joint venture's focus on scaling up solar power generation across key states contributes to India's energy security and decarbonization goals.
Before these additions, NTPC Green Energy Group's commercial capacity stood at 10,453.90 MW. With the commissioning of the new solar units, the commercial capacity now reaches 10,516.40 MW, reflecting the company's consistent growth in renewable power generation. This expansion aligns with NTPC Limited's broader strategy to achieve 60 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2032, supporting India's commitment to sustainable energy transition. The move also follows significant strategic acquisitions by the joint venture, including the February 2025 acquisition of Ayana Renewable Power Private Limited, which is expected to add over 4 GW of operational and pipeline capacity to its portfolio. With NTPC Green Energy's group capacity now exceeding 10.5 GW, the company is positioned to achieve its revised targets for total installed renewable capacity by 2030.
The commissioning of these solar projects has pushed NTPC Green Energy Limited's total installed capacity to 10,516.40 MW as of May 15, 2026. More significantly, the expansion has increased the NTPC Group's total installed capacity to 89,868 MW from 89,805.5 MW, marking a substantial milestone in the group's renewable energy development. This growth positions NTPC favorably against competitors like Adani Green Energy Limited, which operates over 10 GW of renewable energy capacity, and Tata Power Renewable Energy, which has over 4 GW of commissioned renewable capacity. The consistent commissioning of projects demonstrates NTPC's ability to meet its ambitious renewable energy targets while supporting India's clean energy transition and emissions reduction goals.
