Maruti Suzuki India has announced the landmark 15 lakh cumulative sales milestone for the Eeco model. According to reports from Business Standard, the vehicle was launched in January 2010 and has emerged as a trusted mobility partner for families, entrepreneurs, businesses and institutions across the country. The Eeco was specifically designed for India and has demonstrated consistent growth momentum throughout its journey.
The Eeco's sales growth has shown accelerating momentum with each milestone achievement. As reported by Business Standard, the first 5 lakh sales took eight years, while the next 5 lakh were achieved in under five years. The recent 5 lakh sales have been achieved in three-and-a-half years, making this the fastest 5 lakh sales milestone in the Eeco's journey. This progression demonstrates the vehicle's increasing market acceptance and customer demand.
To celebrate the 15 lakh Eeco sales milestone in India, Maruti Suzuki has introduced the Eeco Star Edition. According to Business Standard, the new variant comes equipped with 18 exclusive exterior and interior accessories, designed to offer a more stylish and premium appeal while enhancing both aesthetics and cabin experience for customers. The addition of body-coloured bumpers further elevates the vehicle's appearance, giving it a more refined and contemporary design.
According to Business Standard, 65% of Eeco sales came from rural markets in FY 2025-26, highlighting the vehicle's strong connection with rural India. The company reported that 55% of customers are first-time buyers and over 51% are business owners, indicating its role as both a mobility solution and an enabler of aspiration and livelihood. Partho Banerjee, Senior Executive Officer, Marketing & Sales at Maruti Suzuki India Limited, emphasized that the vehicle has played multiple roles in customers' lives, from families experiencing mobility joy to entrepreneurs building businesses and institutions delivering essential services. The customer base reflects India's changing demographics with customers getting younger and moving up the income ladder.
