
According to latest reports, Mahindra & Mahindra achieved exceptional growth in August 2026, with total vehicle sales reaching 1.08 lakh units, representing a 42% year-on-year increase from 75,932 units in August 2025. The strong performance was led by domestic utility vehicle sales of 59,257 units, up 50% from 39,406 units in the previous year. Total vehicle sales stood at 1,07,648 units, demonstrating the company's broad-based growth across all segments. As per Business Standard, the company's tractor sales grew 5% to 29,507 units compared to the previous year, with domestic market performance particularly strong at 27,595 tractors sold. Veejay Nakra, President - Farm Equipment Business at Mahindra & Mahindra, attributed the positive domestic performance to steady improvement in rainfall that helped near-normal Kharif sowing. The company expects continued support from various government schemes and anticipates that the upcoming festive season should bolster rural sentiment.
The utility vehicle segment delivered exceptional performance with 59,257 units sold domestically, representing a 50% increase from 39,406 units in August 2025. Mahindra's trucks and buses business saw exceptional growth of 47%, selling 2,495 vehicles in August 2026 compared to 1,701 units in August 2025. As per Vinod Sahay, Executive Chairman - SML, President - Aerospace, Advanced Technologies, Trucks, Buses & CE, M&M, the growth was supported by higher infrastructure spending, rising freight demand, and replacement demand, while facing challenges from rising input and fuel costs. The segment comprises Mahindra Truck & Bus Division (MTBD) and SML Mahindra Ltd (SML). Volumes were muted in August 2025 due to anticipated GST changes, making the current growth particularly significant. During the month, Mahindra Truck & Bus division launched all-new Mahindra BLAZO i-TRK, strengthening its Heavy Commercial Vehicles portfolio with a 10% more fuel efficiency and 48-hour Uptime Guarantee backed by a ₹10,000 per day assurance.
Total exports rose 71% to 6,054 units in August 2026 from 3,548 units in the same month last year. Cumulative exports through August reached 26,012 units, up 63% from 15,983 units in the year-ago period. Cumulative total tractor sales, including exports, stood at 2,21,968 units, up 16% from 1,90,914 units. Cumulative exports increased 9% to 9,304 units from 8,524 units. The company noted that August 2025 volumes were muted ahead of anticipated GST changes, making the current growth particularly significant. Strong demand for Mahindra SUVs comes ahead of the festive season, traditionally an important period for India's passenger vehicle market.
Mahindra registered strong growth across its commercial vehicle business, with LCVs below 2 tonnes increasing 37% YoY to 3,999 units compared to 2,925 units last year. LCVs in the 2–3.5 tonne category recorded sales of 23,416 units, up 20% from 19,502 units. Three-wheeler sales, including electric models, increased by 42% YoY to 14,922 units. The company's current portfolio includes models such as Scorpio N, Scorpio Classic, Thar, Thar Roxx, XUV 3XO, XUV 7XO and Bolero range, along with its expanding electric SUV portfolio.
