Maruti Suzuki India Limited is set to give the Brezza a significant update, making the popular compact SUV more feature-rich, practical, and performance-oriented. According to reports from NDTV, the facelift is expected to arrive in July 2026 and help the Brezza remain competitive in India's crowded compact SUV segment, where buyers increasingly expect premium features alongside better performance and efficiency. The SUV, which easily sells over 14,000 units every month, has been in the market for a while and with rising competition, Maruti has been working on these changes to ensure it stays relevant.
Alongside the existing 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, Maruti Suzuki is likely to introduce the same 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine that powers the Fronx crossover SUV. As reported by NDTV, sources confirm the SUV will get a second petrol engine option with the turbo-petrol unit, offering better acceleration and improved drivability, especially during highway cruising and overtaking. The smaller engine could also attract lower taxes because its displacement is below 1,200 cc, potentially making the turbo-petrol variant more competitively priced. The current NA engine available on the SUV offers 103 hp and 136 Nm, while the Fronx variant produces 100 hp and 147 Nm of peak torque, suggesting Maruti may tune the Brezza's output for enhanced performance. The move will help Brezza customers benefit from the lower tax bracket available to sub-four-metre petrol vehicles equipped with engines under 1,200cc, as currently the Brezza uses a 1.5-litre (1462cc) petrol engine which places it in the higher vehicle tax slab introduced under GST 2.0 reforms effective from September 2025.
The facelift is expected to feature an underbody-mounted CNG tank instead of the conventional boot-mounted setup, as reported by CarLelo. This design frees up luggage space as the CNG cylinder no longer occupies the boot. The technology has already been introduced on Maruti Suzuki's newer models, and it improves the practicality of CNG vehicles without compromising passenger or cargo space. Previous spy shots have confirmed the presence of cylinders mounted beneath the floor, which should help improve practicality and free up more luggage space. The CNG variant may feature an underfloor tank arrangement like the Victoris, which would create more usable boot space and enhance overall practicality, according to Financial Express reports. The automaker has already used a similar setup in the Victoris, making this a significant advantage for buyers of CNG vehicles.
The refreshed Brezza is likely to see subtle changes in design: front and rear bumpers may change, with the front end expected to receive subtle styling updates including a redesigned grille and revised headlamp units. The fog lamp surrounds are also likely to be reworked, as reported by Financial Express. Despite these updates, the SUV's overall profile is anticipated to remain largely unchanged from the current model. Inside, the Brezza facelift is expected to receive several comfort-focused upgrades, with ventilated front seats likely to be the headline addition. According to NDTV Automate reports, the SUV is also expected to offer powered adjustment for the front seats, which has been missing on the SUV until now. This feature, which was previously available only in premium vehicles, has become increasingly popular among Indian buyers as it improves comfort during hot weather. The cabin is likely to remain largely unchanged in terms of design, with a new colour theme to give it a fresher look. A major update is expected to be the 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support, replacing the existing 9-inch unit. The SUV is also expected to continue offering features such as seat ventilation, a head-up display (HUD), a 360-degree camera, an electric sunroof, automatic climate control, and more.
Maruti Suzuki has been offering the Brezza with a 5-speed manual gearbox for a very long time, but the company appears to be making changes gradually. Test mules were spotted with a 6-speed manual transmission several months ago, which could help improve the SUV's fuel efficiency on highways as the additional sixth gear would allow drivers to cruise at higher speeds without revving the engine to higher RPMs. The heavily localised 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine would not only improve performance but could also help the SUV qualify for a lower GST slab, making it more competitively priced in the segment. The existing 1.5-litre naturally aspirated engine is likely to remain part of the lineup, with both petrol and CNG options continuing to be available. The feature list is also expected to see notable upgrades, with the Brezza facelift likely to get ventilated front seats, which will likely be limited to higher variants, but is a welcome addition since several rivals already offer it. The introduction of a turbocharged engine is likely to enhance Brezza's appeal among customers looking for improved performance and could bolster Maruti's competitiveness in the highly contested compact SUV segment, where most major automakers now offer multiple powertrain choices across their product portfolios.
