According to reports from Essential Business Intelligence, KP Group has secured more than 2.5 GWh of battery energy storage system (BESS) orders and is moving ahead with a large battery production facility. The group has completed preparatory work for the battery production facility and is developing a 565 MW battery storage project to address the growing need for energy storage solutions. As reported by Essential Business Intelligence, battery storage is becoming increasingly important for balancing renewable generation and matching supply with demand requirements.
As reported by Essential Business Intelligence, Prof. Sunil Maheshwari, Vice Chairman of KP Group, emphasized that the renewable energy opportunity in India is moving beyond simply producing low-cost solar power. The focus is shifting toward battery storage, round-the-clock availability and integrated clean-energy solutions. According to Maheshwari's interview, companies with a mix of wind, solar and green hydrogen capabilities are expected to be better positioned as the industry evolves, with the focus on making energy available whenever customers and the grid require it. Maheshwari explained that today's focus is more on making the energy available whenever the customer and the grid wants it, representing a fundamental shift in the renewable energy sector.
According to Essential Business Intelligence, KP Group is expanding beyond traditional renewable energy operations into green data centres. The company is working with technology partners to develop facilities where renewable energy generated by the group can meet the power-intensive requirements of data-centre operations. The group is also pursuing international expansion, with Maheshwari noting that their move into Botswana has opened the gateway to Africa, with further expansion in the region expected as part of their broader diversification strategy. The group is also looking at opportunities outside India as part of its diversification strategy.
As reported by Essential Business Intelligence, Maheshwari remains bullish on the broader renewable energy sector, citing rising energy demand and India's push towards greater energy self-reliance. He expects energy demand to rise substantially as the Indian economy expands, despite temporary generation surpluses that can occur due to evacuation constraints. The expansion across renewable energy, storage, data centres and international markets is being accompanied by a push to professionalise management, according to the company's strategic approach.
